I was really excited to pick up lunch today and save myself some time from cooking at home; I wanted to check out this location as I’ve never been to this location before and it looks brand new.. I was with my infant and first thing I noticed was there was no automatic open door button - inconvenient for people with strollers and also people who are in wheelchairs or walkers. I was actually very surprised that there was none given the fact that this location is in west Broadway, where there’s VGH, BC cancer, and many physician / specialists clinics. I ordered two chicken platters to go and made one a combo. I noticed the staff who was filling my order was not very consistent with the portions of my orders- it was very off, and too little for the price I was paying at approx $43 including tax; there was another customer behind me who ordered the same chicken platter and her to go box platter looked more full than the two chicken platters- a lot more than what I was getting. I spoke up and asked why one platter of mine had four potato’s and the other had three? And the salad portions were much smaller than the customer behind me who’s ordering the same thing? Both staff smirked and laughed and said “oh here’s another small potato”. Lol, it’s not just about a potato, it’s about the price I’m paying vs what I am actually getting. I then said “ I don’t know how many there are supposed to be, but I just want you to please be consistent with the portions, I want to make sure I’m getting what I’m supposed to receive with the full price I paid for the two chicken platters” The staff didn’t say anything but rolled their eyes.

Didn’t even acknowledge my point. Every dollar counts and if you’re charging that much for a platter, please make it consistent and close to being the same for everyone ordering it.

I felt frustrated; I felt cheated.

After receiving my orders, the door was another hurdle as it wasn’t easy maneuvering a stroller through a non automated (no push button to open door) a big heavy door.

First I’d like to say that I’ve been a fan of Donair Dude for many years. The store is very nice and clean, but unfortunately this is not the DD I’m used to. The prices here are higher than other locations because well… it’s franchised. My go-to is the lamb pita donair, but the meat here is cut into little bits almost like ground meat. What happened to the spits where the meat is shaved off? Donair meat SHOULD be shaved slices of meat!! Apparently this meat change may be rolled out to all locations. I hope this is not the case. If I wanted a burrito I’d go to Chipotlé. I think a lot of customers would be lost because of this poor decision. This location seems to be very cheap with the veggie fillings unlike other locations that give a heaping spoonful of each. When I asked for more of a certain veggie the server would begrudgingly spoon a few more morsels in. At other locations my pita donair would be nice and plump, but not here. $15 for a tiny donair is not worth it IMO. I hope they figure out being cheap isn’t the way to go. If that’s the case I’d rather spend my well earned money elsewhere in this economy. Also seems like a bunch of fake 5 star reviews with no comments to combat genuine...
