When I walked into the restaurant, there were no servers, just a cook in the kitchen and a man busy on his laptop in the back. I didn't mind waiting as I wasn't in a hurry.
After I waited for about five minutes, the man helped with a pickup order, and then I realized that he was the one who should take my order. The service was not bad, but only when his attention was not on his laptop.
If that was only what happened, I wouldn’t be writing this review.
The same man was also helping with food preparing and packing. I witnessed him handling raw sprouts with his bare hands after touching his laptop, his face, and even handling cash. And he did it so naturally. 🥺
I felt sorry for whoever would receive the dish that was prepared in this manner, and felt slightly desperate when it was brought to me. Despite my love for sprouts in pho, I didn’t touch them. The water cup was not very clean either. The pho itself was good in terms of portion and taste, and it was reasonably priced.
However, due to the overall experience, I wouldn't...
Read moreI ordered online for a large pho and a grilled pork with a spring roll with a vermicelli for pick. It came to nearly $40 before tip. The Pho was definitely not a large. It was hardly anything. On top of that, they packed the food horribly. They put the pho and the soup in separate containers at the bottom of the bag on top of a small piece of cardboard. They layered a larger container with the grilled pork on top in the bag. Because the larger item was on top, it rolled off and cracked open the lid of the pho soup. The larger item should have been on the bottom, then the cardboard with the pho. Every single drop from the pho soup spilled out into the bag. We had to add chicken stock to the pho when I got home. My grilled pork and spring roll were soggy from the soup. I also wrote in the order comment no bean sprouts in both orders. Guess what, bean sprouts were in...
Read moreRecent rebrand/revamp of the original GT Express located here but they are still using the original GT menus even though the restaurant is no longer called GT Express (maybe didn't want to pay franchise fees?). Food is about the same standard as before but I think the prices increased slightly. Same casual no frills fare but has lost a bit of the typical dingy GT-style atmosphere of random neon signs and always on TVs (TV is still there but always off). Great as a quick lunch joint or evening hit of comfort Pho and is slightly tastier than the GT up the hill on W10th Avenue. Best improvement is that they now take credit/debit card instead...
