Ordered from Door Dash with my usual very picky order - no this, no that on almost all items. I know. I’m a real treat for restaurants.
That’s why I wasn’t surprised when I got a call from Green Leaf almost right after placing the order. I thought I was going to hear the “sorry, no substitutions for anything” but instead, I was greeted with a very pleasant man who apologized for not being able to substitute a few items I requested. Totally understandable. Restaurants have to draw the line somewhere and as long as they’re not snotty about it, I’m all good.
I told him I’d call him back and let him know our decision as he couldn’t change our Door Dash order on his end and I couldn’t make changes on my end.
Called the restaurant back and asked if I could substitute the items for another item of the same price. He was willing to do it and apologized for the inconvenience.
To me, this is amazing customer service. He offered me solutions. He accepted my idea for a solution. And he apologized for something that was entirely not his fault. It’s my fault for being so picky. And of course, people would usually say, “that’s what a restaurant should do. The customer is always right.” No. That’s not always the case. But Green Leaf was solid here and their customer service was all I needed to write this review because I’ve had their food before and it’s good - good enough that I’m a repeat customer and appreciate their very reasonable prices for consistently good food but I never felt compelled to write a review for them until now. Very happy to support small businesses like this that find a healthy balance between trying their best for their customers and treating them well while still maintaining the integrity of their dishes the way they want customers to enjoy them.
Thank you, Green Leaf. Your food is delicious and your customer service went above and beyond today. BIG thank you from a very...
Read moreWheel chair access is quite difficult because of the awkward ramp but it works, the outside step, directly in front of the main door, is very dangerous way too high and is definately not to code, where are the city inspectors? Please make sure you don't go too early as it has lots of children with mum's, so it's noisey but if go and you have children you will fit in. also, the music isn't my taste and it's way too loud. The ceiling fans are quite dirty the one above us threw off some dust consistently while we were there. Now I have complained about the non food items, the food is not so good either, the miso was not hot barely warm, the Avocado paste was not Avocado but a creamy substance, with colouring, that was absolutely awful. We are sure it had a coloured dye in it, the yams were definately not cooked correctly and they were extremely greasy, broccoli was overcooked and the spicy chop scallop was not done well, the Gioza was ok. The service is fine they are, very polite. we didn't eat most of what we ordered like 90 percent and left it but they wanted to be paid for all the food we left, which we only paid about half. I would give them two stars but the first points really irritated us. We will not go here again. This place is NOT very clean, look around if you don't believe me. But do it during the day not when the evening...

A couple then arrived, and they were seated immediately. I went in and checked if we could be seated - as there were still two "bar" seats (basically, the long table by the entrance). The server who I spoke to emphasized that we wont be able to change to "table" seats if we were to take the "bar" seats. I said that's totally fine - as we never requested special seating. She walked away. I was baffled. I approached her again and asked if we could take those two "bar" seats. She reiterated that i wont be able to change to "table" seats. It took me a second attempt with simple english and said "we will take those two seats."
After being seated, we ordered for food and thought that tea would be served shortly after. Nope. We need to ask for tea. After that, we decided to focus on the food and nothing else.
We ordered the aburi combo (flame-seared sushi). The sushi's temperature were not even luke warm, and the sushi rice wasnt completely cooked. Well, at least the taste of the sushi were satisfying.
