I am back in Vancouver after 5 months of traveling through Asia and to avoid falling into a post traveling slump of sadness I have decided to review as many of Vancouver’s sushi places as I can this summer. My qualifications include having eaten sushi in Japan and being sushi obsessed. All jokes aside though I think that it is clear that I have no qualifications to do this whatsoever so obviously take everything I say with a grain of salt these are just my opinions. Duh. I also lean towards liking veggie rolls more than fish ones which I know is completely heinous to some people. I do love salmon and tuna rolls as well though (especially in Japan) but my reviews will probably be more helpful to fellow veggie roll lovers. That being said the first place I will be reviewing is Simply Sushi Bar! I stopped into this place quite randomly in need of a quick lunch before meeting a friend on broadway. This place did not disappoint. I got the avocado roll and the yam tempura roll and both were perfect! The avocado was nice and fresh, the tempura was also fresh and warm and the rice was great. The service was quick, exactly what I needed and the prices were very reasonable/ affordable. I cannot comment on any of their appetizers or seafood rolls as this was my first time visiting the restaurant but I would definitely come back to try some of the other rolls as they all looked delicious. They also had many combos on the menu that sounded good and a variety of bento boxes, noodles, rice bowls and non sushi options that also seemed yummy. Extensive menu which is nice. The inside of the restaurant is small and casual which I honestly love as it makes it the perfect spot for a quick lunch or dinner. Super glad I discovered this gem and would highly recommend! My apologies for not getting a photo, I was in a rush and it didn’t occur to me until it was too late. Will add when I come back to this place! Or for my next...

‼️‼️ Genuinely the BEST SUSHI in Vancouver that is affordable and really good quality fish. If you’re craving sushi the next time, do not skip out on this restaurant. It’s such a cozy mom and pop shop and you can really tell they pour a lot of love and effort into each dish that you order. Everything is between $1.95-$15 and in THIS economy, you’re truly not going to get anything better. 🍣🍱

This restaurant deserves to have lines outside because it’s genuinely so delicious. Their oshi is a standout and it is only $12.95!!! Their rolls are also to die for with incredible quality ingredients and portions are really generous. 🙌🙌🙌

There’s truly no other sushi place I’ve left a review for (let alone restaurants of any sorts) and I felt so compelled to leave one for here. It’s just...

Simply fantastic.

Easily the best of the 50+ sushi restaurants I have tried in Vancouver. I have been going to Jun for almost 20 years and have never had a bad meal. Most places serve subpar farmed salmon and charge you extra for the wild. Not Jun! They only serve wild sockeye and don’t charge anything extra. The golden roll is probably the best sushi roll I have ever had, and Jun is the only place I’ve seen this combination.

If you want the best sushi at the best price, with none of the pretentiousness of a place like the eatery then Jun is your place. If you need your sushi roll to cost $15 to impress your Instagram followers then Jun probably...

Absolutely incredible, best value in the area IMO! We got an assortment of rolls, all of them were fantastic🤩! Amazing value as well, out of this world freshness😋! The spicy salmon sashimi, rainbow roll and house roll were all super fresh, portions were huge and overall great value💸! The highlight, though, was definitely the oshi! We tried both the salmon and the tuna, and honestly, it was head and shoulders above any of the more popular oshi places around Vancouver! The fish was torched to perfection and just melted in our mouths🤤! Atmosphere and restaurant itself were 10/10, very very friendly restaurant owners, worth every penny at this hidden gem😇😇

Service is fast. Restaurant very empty during the day. Value is okay. Not that great considering the quality of food. Food is pretty bland. Not much of a taste to anything in the bento box. Come here for a quick lunch for pseudo-Japanese food. Don’t come here if you’re expecting the best sushi you’ve ever tasted in your life. Or if you’re expecting excellent value. To recap: Good- fast service Bad- mediocre food quality (gross fruit), $15 for bland food
