IGA — Local services in Vancouver

This afternoon I went to get some coffee IGA @ 4th Ave & Collingwood st and this staff Tanya, also the sister of the franchise owner of this location was not only rude and unprofessional considering she is one of the senior staff there.. I was getting my coffee in my mug and she quickly came and count the number of pumps I put on my mug reading out aloud to me. I asked her why are you counting, she said she wants to know how much coffee I put in there. That's ridiculous, intimidating of a customer while pouring its coffee, she is the devil of the pack. She has been telling the other morning cashier to charge me a large coffee. All these while the other staffs have been charging me a medium size coffee and once I asked why the inconsistency, the morning cashier rudely said I will charge you a large next time. I can pay for the coffee for whatever price but please be professional and treat your customers with respect. No smile and no respect, unprofessional approach kind of service is unacceptable. I called for the assistant manager Terry and told him about the situation and he did nothing because she is the sister's owner of this store. A total of 3 cashiers showed bad attitude towards their customers. I deserve an apology either from the management or from Tanya herself. Absolutely appalling. IGA, it’s 2025—how are you still employing blatantly racist staff? There’s a middle-aged woman with short white hair who consistently treats customers differently based on who they are. I shop here frequently, and I’ve noticed that she greets and chats with customers before and after me, yet when I approach, she suddenly becomes cold and dismissive. I’ve even tried to be polite, saying “Hi, how are you?” only to be completely ignored. The contrast is obvious.

If IGA truly cared about creating an inclusive, welcoming shopping experience, employees like this wouldn’t still have jobs. But here we...

Awful staff behind the Deli counter. My goodness. I've gone here for months and the brunette girl that's worked there I think the longest (I heard her training ppl) seems miserable or unable to even smile. So depressing. I think she hates her job.

Also, terrible sanitation. Same girl stuck her bare fingers in my food when warming it up to check if it was warm. GROSS! What is wrong with you?

Other than that, they do have good, but expensive food. I'd highly recommend hiring some new friendly hygienic properly trained staff. I'm a local and used to come here allllll the time! But that incident just pushed me...
