Dishonest place beyond belief.
Being non-Indian, I was unfamiliar with Indian food and sweets and came to Himalaya. I wanted a sample of a small piece of Indian sweet and an unfriendly guy at the counter told me that it is around 9 dollars a pound. For that one sample, he charged me $ 1.25 without weighing it & I thought that that was pricey. But I did not argue since it was only $ 1.25.
I walked around this Indian neighbourhood after Himalaya and a lady told me that she had bad experience at Himalaya and introduced me to another place called Dhaliwal Sweets on Fraser. I went to Dhaliwal which has the same sweets at the same price as Himalaya. There I told the staff that I wanted a sample. I offered to pay but the staff said it is free. I wanted another sample so I insisted on paying for the second one. She weighed the sample which was just as big as the one I had at Himalaya and I was expecting to pay $ 1.25. It was 30 cents I paid after she weighed it.
These are hard times for everyone, but cheating is never the way. $ 1.25 did not make me poorer nor did it make the owner of Himalaya richer. To the owner, why lose your soul and integrity for such small change? A man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions; and a good reputation is worth...
Read moreBelieve me, it is the worst restaurant I have ever been to in entire Greater Vancouver.
Worst customer service. There was a girl (wearing glasses) who was I guess working as a waitress. She didn't have that manner when she offer glasses of water, have to be kept on the table near the customer, rather she put on one edge of the table and left where it was difficult for us to grab the water. We had to get off from our seat and get the water. No smile while talking and no enthusiastic to work. Seems like she doesn't care about the work in this bad job market.
Believe me, Food quality was bad. We ordered Chhole Bhature, which we all expect to be damn best. But as like customer service it was bad too. The curry that was used in it was pale in taste on one spoon and too much masala in another spoon. So the curry was not blend or cooked properly or evenly. Still after 2 days, my stomach is not good.
Recommendations:- You can do good. Like your Sweets, you can make other menu tasty as well but I don't why you don't choose to do that.
I won't say, I would not go there in the future, but I would definitely look for option before choosing that place. This restaurant would be my last choice in...
Read moreThe WORST experience I've ever had. Staff is so disrespectful. Plus the food quality is pathetic. I ordered lassi and firstly it never arrived until I reminded them. I didn't expect that I'll have to preach them that the drink needs to be given with main course, NOT when a person is about to leave.
And when the Lassi arrived, it smelled horrible that I didn't even care to taste it (probably prepared weeks before -_-). I found it okay to waste my 4 dollars than complaining to a rude and disrespectful staff.
Even when I went to pay, I was at the counter for so long. They ignored me completely, despite clearly knowing that I am here to pay. I had to approach them multiple times.
If this is how restaurant operates - i.e. bring in new customers and not focus on repeated sales, HATS OFF TO YOU, not sustainable at all.
Definitely never going back again. They not only lost 1 customer, but all my inner circle people as I would strongly persuade them to avoid this place. Hopefully other community members in this app make a wise...
