A dissapointed Sunday dinner with my wife and my Son visiting us from Toronto. there is nothing special regarding this so called middle upscale Indian restaurant located at the down foot of the Main Street Vancouver. i could have chooses much better middle upscale Indians options located on the Broadway street or in Surrey and worse far better Indian buffet non veg or veg located on Punjabi market also located up on the main street.unlike many Indians mentioned above where you are there for a dinner meals not as buffet types unlike many Indians restaurants standard there is no compliments of given any Paperdum a Indian munchies snacks where as customers at the same time can also ordering the food while looking at their menu. This is normal standard in many of the Indians restaurants which are located in Vancouver and also in Toronto. Waiters will just come to your table and pour water in the glass and expecting that you ordering the food. Any way we ordered stating with full Tandoori chicken $18.95 yes a full with jokingly only 7 pieces of hard chewing non spices chicken, paneer pakoras Butter chicken $ 13.95 came in a small bowl, 3 nans and plain rice with 2 beers. dinner $ 75 for 3 of us you have to order every things is extra according, to the waitress including chutney and salad .if Indians food lovers want to go for Indians look for more options on Broadway you will be surprise and worth to spending your hard...
Read moreMy grandmother came from Australia to visit us this summer and we decided to take a trip out at the beach and than went out for dinner. We were looking for a good restaurant and decided to try out this restaurant. We ordered our food and waited about 20 minutes for the food to arrive. The food was horrible with no taste at all. Everyone was starving and the food ruined everyone's mood. The water jug was empty and the waitress saw the jug and didn't bother filling it. Also the waitress didn't even come to us once to ask how the food is or if we need anything else My grandma didn't like the food and neither did anyone else. Than as we were finishing up we needed one naan to finish up the last bit of food . We asked the waitress for ONE naan. Just ONE naan. She left and we waited. With everyone's mood already ruined because of the horrible food we sat there staring at each other's faces just getting even more mad because we had to wait and wait and wait!! After 15 minutes of waiting for ONE naan I said that we should pay and leave but my mom said to just wait. Next thing you know it's been 20 minutes of waiting for ONE NAAN. The waitress comes and asks us if we are done and I said we ordered one naan and she said oh and she said one minute and left and didn't come back. We waited and left. As we are paying the waitress didn't say anything about the naan. Horrible experience and we will never...
Read moreSo my after my dad's recommendation we decided to come to this restaurant. When we entered two servers were eating in the front table as we walked in. They did not come to even serve us water until both had finished their meal.
We decided to order food and got the "Shahi Paneer". Now usually Shahi paneer is a gravy dish with a cream sauce (emphasis on gravy; butter chicken sans chicken). The resulting dish was a paneer crumble (paneer bhurji). Now we didn't mind that the dish was paneer bhurji, the one thing that struck us was that it was listed under Shahi paneer and paneer bhurji was A SEPARATE OPTION in the menu as a dish. Resulting in 3 separate paneer dishes.
When this was brought to the server's attention, they said that that is how the dish is made.
Now we have had Shahi paneer and Indian food at restaurants a lot (along with eating it everyday at home).
We asked to talk the chef but he refused to come out by saying that is how Shahi paneer is made and transferred his stubbornness to the servers. Mind you, other customers have complained about this and have been met with the same ignorant answer.
"Chef" Sharanjit Kahlon please fix your menu and remove this confusing dish descriptions. Both dishes have the SAME description you need to stop being ignorant....
