UPDATE: Went to visit on June 10th 2023, (two of us) and everything is still great. The waiter still remembered us even though we hadn't been there for almost 6 months (amazing). They have a new menu with a few new items which I highly recommend: Spicy Hot Tripe (I think it had 12 skewers, worth it and very tasty, not too spicy) and Beef shank cucumber. We also ordered a few extra plates (see photo of our selections) and 1 Litre home made plum juice (which came in a tall glass bottle) and was good for us as we knew we drink a lot of that, so a 1 L basically gave us 3 glasses each (we finished the bottle) All the waiters speak English as well as Mandarin (not sure about Cantonese)...young, super friendly and helpful...so don't be intimidated to check it out or ask questions. TIP: we went there slightly before 6:30 pm and was seated right away. I have uploaded newest menu (see last photo)
First time checking out this place (Aug 1.2022 BC long weekend, Monday). Arrived at 7:45 pm. got seated right away (we were walk ins and did not make reservations however, we did phone ahead to ask if we needed reservations and at the time we called, we were advised there was seating available as long as we got there before 8 pm ). I noticed that by 8:30pm the place was full. We had to ask some questions about menu and waiter was able to speak English and explain items (eg. some items showed 5 , and then price per item...I wanted to clarify whether that meant minimum 5 skewers at $/skewer since i couldn't read Chinese (see attached photo of menu), and waiter confirmed some items required a minimum of 5 skewers and some 2, clearly noted in Chinese). Food items are in both English and Chinese so you know what you are ordering. Waiter also made some recommendations. We ordered a bunch of items from lamb, to chicken gizzards, chicken hearts, fish, beef shortrib, pork belly, copelin (fish) and more. The cauliflower was really good since there wasn't lot of vegetable dishes. We ordered non-spicy. There are only two options: non-spicy or spicy. There are seasoning jars at your table, eg. jars chili powder, cumin powder, salt etc, so you can sprinkle some chili onto meat if you opted for non-spicy. The flavors are really good and juicy, cooked to perfection. On each table is also a wooden canister to put your empty skewers into. i would recommend you order non-spicy, then you can sprinkle as much chili powder on your food as you want (or not). The server gave each table a pitcher of water, however, we also ordered plum juice. Server did check in on us a couple of times during our meal. The room is fair size, but I think they custom built seating to max out space and it looks like every table was custom built to seat up to 4 persons (not totally sure as i did not ask nor walked around the room ) but on glancing around, the tables look the same. If you have a group of more than 4 people , you should call the restaurant to see if they can reconfigure the seating arrangement or not. Each table is surrounded by custom built wooden lattice type separating each table and providing a sense of privacy yet you can still view the whole dining area. It was a lively happy mood, with music and air conditioning. We paid with credit card. The place opens till 2 am. I would go...

You guys know I love my skewers, so I was so thrilled to discover a new BBQ gem in my neighborhood! @shenji_bbq is a new Northern Chinese BBQ restaurant with a huge selection of delicious bbq
First of all, I like the wooden interior and the cozy vibe. I really appreciate the cool modem music that they play. I saw a lot of students and a fairly young crowd enjoying their bbq and having a good time
•Spicy little crab(crayfish) •Cold noodles •BBQ steamed buns •Cheese corn kernels •BBQ lamb skewer •BBQ chicken wings •Spicy hot tripe •Beef short ribs
I really enjoyed the crayfish that was uniquely presented in a shovel! The spicy level was perfect for me and I washed it down with a cold beer. I could easily eat the whole plate to myself😂 They taste like mini lobsters with chewier texture and sweeter
The lamb skewers and the beef short ribs were tender and seasoned well. I find the prices better than other Chinese bbq places. The bbq bun was bomb, my personal favourite and it’s a must try!
The spicy hot tripe in the pot with the broth was another standout! It’s tender with a bit of chewiness. It doesn’t have a strong taste and it’s able to take on the spices and flavours from the broth. I would recommend the cold noodles as a refreshing dish to counter the spiciness and tasty flavours from the bbq meats

Read moreRecently visited Paramount BBQ in Vancouver, and it was a delightful experience! This spot specializes in Chinese BBQ, offering a sumptuous array of meats grilled to perfection. We indulged in an extensive selection, including chicken skewers, squid skewers, clams, sausage, chicken heart, cartilage, lamb, and beef. Each item was exceptionally well-seasoned and notably juicy, making every bite a pleasure.
The variety was impressive, and the quality of the meats stood out with their rich flavors and perfect grilling technique. The atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall enjoyment, making for a great dining experience.
However, it's worth noting that the price point is on the higher side. It cost us about $50 each, which might be considered pricey for BBQ skewers. Despite this, the delicious food and pleasant environment provided good value for the money.
Overall, Paramount BBQ offers a fantastic culinary experience, albeit at a premium. Highly recommended for those willing to splurge a bit for...
