This place repeatedly delighted this skeptic. You walk in and there's a small case with rich-looking pastries and a few unprepossessing looking sandwiches with a couple of low key people behind the counter and a not orderly line. The line worked itself out amicably (and continued to do so). I ordered a hot drink, and I was hungry, didn't want something sweet, so I grudgingly ordered one of the premade breakfast sandwiches, which I typically consider a recipe for a poor taste experience. My name wasn't taken, so I thought, I'll have to keep vigil to make sure I get my food - also not a big fan of playing "Who's latte is this?". Humph - not a fun game. Sat down with the friend who picked this place and started chatting. Our drinks came up, one at a time, we fetched them, they were both tasty and of good temperature. Yay. Eventually, our food was actually brought to us, which was a really lovely surprise in large part because that place was constantly hopping with a consistent influx of people staying and dropping in and those gals were amazingly keeping track of things despite being seemingly run off their feet - respect!! The sandwich itself was really good, so much yummier than I thought it would be, and not overly fancified; just well seasoned - not dried out as I'd feared - scrambled eggs with a little spinach on a heavenly brioche bun. Really well done. In a neighbourhood where I have tried most of the other options for daytime cuisine and been left wanting, I wish I'd tried this one a lot sooner and I will definitely return. Thanks for a...
Read moreCute place and the food all looked so good! They have some drinks and baked goods that are a little different from the standards that you see everywhere. I enjoyed my raspberry lemon poppyseed muffin and turmeric sunrise smoothie. The muffin wasn’t too sweet and the raspberries complimented the lemon really well. The mix in the smoothie was perfect for my taste - the main flavours were the turmeric and coconut, with the mango adding a little depth but not being too prominent on its own (I like mango but was more interested in the other flavours for this smoothie). The barista was friendly and the general feel of the place was unpretentious and down-to-earth. I liked it a lot and hopefully will get back there to try their lunch...
Read moreSuch a hidden gem! I was amazed to find this place and see that the prices are actually reasonable, which is almost unheard of in Vancouver these days. The quality is great, the food was delicious, and the service was friendly. It makes me really happy that I can still find this type of small business in town, and I will definitely support it and come often, even if it is out of my way. They have a lovely little patio outside where you can enjoy your coffee, and the inside is very nice too. The food was fresh, and the coffee was delicious. I highly recommend it. PS. I had the breakfast sandwich, the berry crumble, and decaf americano! All delicious, the breakfast bread could be a a different bread...
