Today I ordered Tonkatsu Currey and part of the pork actually looks raw and the texture definitely feels raw to me as well. After mentioning this safety concern to the waitress, she kindly helped me ask the chef. He asserted that the pork is fully cooked and it is completely safe to eat without giving a single glance at the Tonkatsu on the plate. I was still skeptical but decided to have one more bite again. After taking another bite, I am convinced that it is undercooked. No matter how many times I mentioned this to them, the chef kept on insisting the fact that the Tonkatsu on my plate was fully cooked and safe to eat without looking at it. At this point I was definitely not happy. I kept my temper and brought the plate to the chef. I don't recall what they said to me exactly at the end. I just remember it was some excuse and still won't admit the fact that the pork is not fully cooked. I asked for a take out box and headed out since my lunch time is over.

The waitress did offer me an exchange which I should've accepted. But just the fact that the chef kept on insisting the fact that the Tonkausi is fully cooked without looking at it makes me lose appetite.

That being said, I have no complaints about the waitress, they are really nice, I have been coming here about 6-7 times now and the flavor of the Curry definitely hit the spot. But this is a serious safety concern that might lead to food poisoning or even worse and I wish the restaurant would be taken seriously.

Reply to the owner: I really wish that was the case this time, but it really wasn't. As you can see in the photo, the raw area didn't even have sauce on it. And the important part is that the chef didn't even bother looking at it when I mentioned this issue to the waitress. I know you probably don't even care about having only a few unhappy customers since the google rating is already so high. But simply creating excuses for something that wasn't done properly just isn't the correct...

I've been meaning to try this place out since they first opened, and I'm so glad I finally did! The aromas coming from this place is insane - I could literally smell the food three stores down. The space is very small, with only two tables, but the staff are nice and the food is served in 5-10 minutes. Portions are average, and maybe slightly small if you have a large appetite. Everything is served piping hot and the ingredients are super fresh, so I would definitely say it's worth it. I love how they have vegan options as well, including vegan pudding from Vegan Pudding Co. which I sadly did not have the stomach space to try.

Vegan Poutine (5/5) This was a rather small portion, but the flavour was amazing. The fries were crispy and there was a good amount of curry sauce. I liked how the curry wasn't overly rich, but was still very flavourful. The consistency was good as well, and wasn't overly watery or thick. The vegan cheese was interesting, and might not be to everyone's taste, but I really enjoyed it. It's rather thick, and the flavour is quite rich, but I thought it complemented the curry well. I would recommend trying this.

Tofu Katsu (5/5) I got this as an add on to the poutine, and it came with 4 strips of perfectly deep fried tofu. It wasn't overly greasy, and the breadcrumb coating was so crispy and delicious. The tofu was soft and had a nice flavour to it despite not being seasoned (I think), and the appearance of the tofu really reminded me of fish sticks / mozzarella sticks.

My family got the Tonkatsu Curry and the Menchi Katsu Curry, and they loved both of them as well. The beef curry sauce is definitely much richer, so I would opt for the chicken or vegan curries for a lighter option. I normally don't enjoy Japanese curries, but the curry here is to die for. I highly recommend coming here for some authentic...

ありがとうございました!! <3 This is by far the closest I have come to my experience of travelling around Japan and tasting this incredible dish. My overall number one favorite grub spot in the whole of Vancouver, this place is totally dope I love it! It's so difficult to find a good specialized katsu joint, especially one that even has vegan options. If you've also been struggling, then look no further as this little gem is the place to be for sure. This grub is real authentic and home-cooking style flavorful Japanese katsu at its best, super yummy and tasty-addictive. It's a very quaint and efficiently ran little restaurant with extremely friendly and talented staff. The attention of detail, consistency and effort put into every dish made makes this joint an absolute winner by far. Even down to the portion of rice and the amount of katsu Curry sauce given is a perfect balanced ratio and seems that this menu has been perfected down to the smallest detail. The staff were even friendly and thoughtful enough to check we were OK with the Pumpkin croquet made from eggs as we ordered the vegan katsu which tasted AWESOME... ingredients and words cannot do justice honestly. I love their vegan options and the fact you can totally customize your meal depending on how your feeling at the time, at fantastic value for money for great quality food, I cannot wait to visit again!! I also added a Boiled egg and Pumpkin Croquette on top of my Vegan Tofu Katsu 豆腐カツカレー which made the perfect dinner combo. Support local businesses! I even got a follow-back from Mr Japanese Curry himself on Instagram which totally made my day!

This is one of our favourite places to eat for Japanese curry katsu. I ordered the chicken katsu and if you’re like me and appreciate spicy curry, I recommend to get level 3 spice. Try level 4 for a challenge. There is a charge for the spice level (0.20 for level 3 and 0.40 for level 4). The dish comes with rice, a slab of katsu chicken sitting in curry sauce. They’ve also sprinkled crispy onions on top of the rice to taste. They allocated the spice in the curry sauce as well under the slices of chicken. I didn’t see this until after I had eaten half of the dish. The katsu was fresh and crispy. Combined with the spicy curry sauce, it is the perfect comfort food on a cold evening. This restaurant require that you order and pay before taking a seat. Customers are asked to grab napkins and cutlery from a small organizer located between the bar height window seats and the inside tables. The dish was served on a stainless steel plate on a black tray with a glass of water. The lady running the register was the same that served us. The restaurant is quite small. They have 4 tables that can seat 8 couples or combine 2 tables for 2 groups of 4. There are also 3 seats by the window. In the summer, they have 2 additional tables outside the restaurant as well. Feel free to leave your dishes for them to collect. There is a little station adjacent to the register where you can bring your tray for them to sort and take to the kitchen. If you’re dining in be prepared to walk out smelling like food. Fried food is their specialty of course and it is a small space.
