Terrible experience, do not understand how this establishment is rated so highly, especially considering a place like Jam has less rating than here. 🤨

Definitely short staffed, which from reading other comments I see is not a rare occurrence. I feel bad for the employees working under those conditions but at the same time, there was such a poor attempt at providing decent service. The food was fine, and the space is esthetic and pretty clean. But that’s not enough to warrant higher than 1 star for what we experienced.

We didn’t wait long to be seated, but that’s about the only thing that didn’t take a long time. People who came in after us (we were just a party of 2) were seated, ate, paid, and left, while we were just receiving our food.

After placing our order, it took about 20 minutes for my iced coffee to arrive. By the time I received it, the ice was practically all melted. The food came after another 20 mins, and it was just okay. No syrup was offered with my French toast, which I found odd. Our waiter never checked on us after dropping off the food, but I would see him working on the opposite side of the restaurant and in the kitchen area. Other servers/waiters never came over to our table to check and were very difficult to flag down - but understandable for the amount of tables each person had to tend to. After finishing our food, we stacked our plates neatly and waited for the bill. We sat for yet another 20 mins before we flagged down a waitress to ask if we could get our bill. No one ever cleared our plates or asked if we wanted our waters refilled. We waited another 10 mins before deciding we had to get up and seek out someone, because who knows how long we’d be there waiting for our bill. The experience was a shame and you could see other guests also looking around for staff to order, pay, etc.

We really wanted to enjoy this place and had high expectations...

I’m not sure how this spot has 4.5 stars because we must have eaten at different places! Wait time to get in on a Sunday was good about 20/25 minutes but that’s were the good points end. We ordered a soft drink and an iced coffee. The soft drink came straight away but the iced coffee did not. We waiting 15/20 minutes and there was still no coffee or food. We asked for the coffee and watched our server go to the back and pick it up off the counter. We don’t know how long it was there for. Another 20 minutes pass and we watch other people around us get served. We asked where our food was and watched as another server brought it to the table behind us. Then they came back 60 seconds later; took the food off them, brought it back to the kitchen, reheated it and served it to us. The raw salmon was now cooked, the eggs went from soft to hard and the potatoes became soft because of this. The cheese on the skillet was discoloured and hard due to the reheating too. When the food was served; it was presented without cutlery! We had to ask for that too. Overall, an awful experience for the cost point. We had to ask for everything several times, and we were not the only ones that had to do so today. I’ve been to plenty of bunch spots that are just as busy but they’re organized. This was not organized. We could see the all the staff running around with slips of paper and not knowing what to do. They need better management and better organization. A complimentary orange juice each isn’t the right way to resolve the problem. We...

I came here for brunch while visiting Vancouver with my partner. We were excited to try a cute brunch spot and to start our day. We checked in at about 11:30. We had for wait a little while, which we expected. When we finally got seated, we had to wait a while for service. When we placed our order, I ordered French toast and specifically asked for no almonds. We spent a good hour waiting for our food, to the point we considered leaving. Our food arrived and I noticed right away there were almonds. I politely informed my server that I was allergic to almonds and needed the dish replaced. The server took it back and told me a new one would be out in about 5 min. When I got a new dish, I was hopeful they had completely remade the dish, however as I was eating I still noticed a number of almonds in my French toast, which led my to believe they just picked the almonds off. As my partner and I were eating, we finished our waters and were hoping for a refill, however no one came by to check on us. Once we were done, we spent another hour waiting for someone to come take our plates and get the check. At this point, tables that had been sat after us had come and gone. Also of note, I was charged for my French toast, despite the error. By time we left it was nearly 2pm with much of day gone by simply waiting for service/food. Overall, we had a very disappointing experience and left feeling like we could not in good faith recommend this place...
