I am evaluating their Thanksgiving holiday dinner package specifically. I reached out to Railtown Catering to inquire about purchasing only their side dishes, excluding the turkey, as I was aiming for a vegetarian Thanksgiving feast. They responded quickly to my emails, clarified the options available, and provided a payment link. After completing my payment, I received timely updates about my order and clear information regarding pickup choices.
Upon arrival for pickup, I found ample parking available. I arrived ahead of my scheduled time and inquired about the possibility of an early pickup. With no line in sight, the staff went out of their way to ensure I was well accommodated. They were organized, attentive, and friendly, clearly taking pride in their service.
However, when I collected my order, I was dismayed by the small portion sizes, which left me feeling frustrated and concerned about feeding ten people. Although everything was well-packaged, the labeling could have been improved. As I prepared to heat the food for the gathering, I remained anxious about the portion sizes. Yet, once displayed on the table, I realized the portions were actually quite sufficient, and we ended up with leftovers. My initial worries were squelched; though I still believe the sizes could be a bit larger, for the vegetables specifically.
As for the food itself? Absolutely delicious! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. I frequently order holiday dinners to go from various catering services and restaurants, appreciating the value and convenience they provide for both consumers and businesses alike.
In 2024, I experienced Fresh In Your Fridge and Bellewood Farms & Distillery; however, Railtown Café distinctly excels in customer service, flavor, quality, and overall value. I would certainly choose them again for future holidays and highly recommend their offerings. They delivered an exceptional service, and I take pride in having utilized...
Read moreDishonest business. Unfair/fraudulent sales process. Disappointing customer experience. Decent food. The problem is not with the 70 dollars that I'm owed, but is their lack of business ethics to admit a false statement they have made to a customer. We ordered a turkey for $90 for Thanksgiving over the phone. It had been triple confirmed that a turkey including gravy was for $90. I literally asked over the phone whether the turkey was for NINETY DOLLARS, and received affirmation from the sales person three times. I was super happy that I got a deal for thanksgiving, but when I was picking up the turkey on Sunday, I found out I was charged $334.95 for the Thanksgiving package which I did not order. I told them I was told the turkey is for $90, so please refund the extra amount. They promised that they would refund the extra amount on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I called to confirm the refund status and found out that they had not processed the refund, so I urged them to do it asap. However, I was then told that the turkey was for $160, so they would only do a refund so that I am charged for $160 + tax. I told them multiple times that $90 was the deal that I got over the phone, but the Sales manager still insisted that the turkey is for $160. I have to admit that I should have checked the invoice that the business sent me shortly after the order was made, but I bought the turkey because it was for $90 only. I would have gotten something else if I knew that it's for $160. They did not admit that they have fraudulently sold me the turkey by offering me a low price but charging me a higher price. Instead, they offer me tips on how to successfully order a turkey from them next time. Eh, excuse me? It is very unfortunate that their food tasted decent, but the sales people could have done a...

Beware of misrepresentations by the team on the quality and amount of food. Make sure to check out exactly what they will deliver in-person before you agree to anything. The pictures on their website and explanations by their staff grossly overpromise what they deliver.
We placed an order of "Serving cheese & fruit (v)" for 43 guests and "Serving house made tortilla chips" for 25 people. They told us that it included delivery and set up of the table. They did not set up the table for us. The "Serving cheese & fruit (v)" platter food was hardly for 10 people, even for bites and nibbles. We counted only 3 pieces of figs as "fresh fruit"! The picture below is the table we set up ourselves. The Serving cheese & fruit (v) at the centre is what they had said they'd deliver but we had to add 90% to it to become what you see in the picture.
Finally, as this was a disappointing experience, we asked the owner for a discount to settle the bill and put this behind us. However, his lack of understanding shocked me even further when he came back saying "you will be hearing from my lawyer for collection".
Unpleasant experience overall, stay away. There are plenty of other options in Vancouver that you can go to who respect you...
