Good prices but they discriminate a lot. I just had a humiliating experience where one of the shop keepers ran after me to ask where I put the items I was holding. Which by the way, I put back on the shelves since there was long lines and I didn’t have the time to wait (I had some refrigerated items in my hand which I could have just placed on the counter but I figured I’d put perishable items away). I offered to have my bags checked because she looked pretty accusatory and kept saying she’s doing her job and didn’t say anything about how it was a mistake, nor did she offer any sort of explanation as to why she ran down the street, or address the fact she made an honest mistake.

Competitive prices but I will never be going back here, rather pay more and get my groceries and last minute items from places where I won’t get treated like a 3rd class citizen or a thief. I believe I’m deserving a bit more respect, and I guess it was a bit heartbreaking splash of reality that it’s not always pleasant being brown...

I have been buying lunch items for work there for years. I have introduced the place to dozens of co-workers over the last decade.

Often there is slow service, many of their clients are older and it is understandable but today was just one of many times where it was the cashier who was rude. I took the line with one person in front me and waited almost 5 minutes for the staff to slow play the whole thing until the previous costumer had come back with something. Her first purchase was complete. The cashier could have run me through while waiting. She chose not to and never had the courtesy to say' just a minute(s)'. When I asked her what was up, she got really defensive, really fast. I just left my things (about $30 worth) on the counter and left. Customers shouldn't have to put up with this poor behaviour. The cashiers are probably paid very little but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have some minimum amount of courteousness. I will go back there again but not...

The last time I went to the market at sunrise I found they had a pretty good selection of fruits and vegetables as far as meat is concerned and inside the market itself well it didn't seem to be to appetizing as far as the meat it was fresh but well I just didn't like the way things looked dry goods was a section on it's own a good variety but all in all I think a go to a public market instead on the outside it was all fruit and vegetables on the inside it was to confined wheelchair excess so they say yes but if I ever made it through the doors which is just a opening it would take forever to get my groceries the staff I cant say friendly they really dont say anything at all the just stake shelves and the cashier doesn't even acknowledge your presence just tells you how much takes the money and says next well Iguess freindlness does count for anything in the sun rise that's just the feeling I got I'll stick to...

I love grocery shopping and Sunrise Market is the best! Especially if you’re looking for rare Asian or Thai products. For example, Pad Thai sauce, Soy sauce (Healthy Boy Brand - ซีอิ๊วขาวตราเด็กสมบูรณ์) and Thai tea (ChaTraMue - ชาตรามือ). I couldn’t find them in T&T but I can find them in Sunrise Market. Moreover, there are a variety of sauces, tofu, vegetables, etc. The price is affordable and some products are very cheap, like you can buy a pack of tomatoes for only $1.49!. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. I really enjoy shopping here. Highly recommended!

Regularly and consistently supplies great quality produce at a fair price, with occasional excellent deals (I bought very tasty, sweet blackberries earlier in the week for only 1.99$!! And today bought a 3 pack of passion fruit for 1.99$ also) Perfect location serves Gastown, Chinatown and Strathcona for walkable convenience 😁 They also carry random snacks at a discounted price that maybe didn't sell as expected at other stores. So check often, as once something is gone, you may not see it again!

This is a fabulous grocery mecca in a wonderful and diverse community. Independently run, the Sunrise Market has such a huge supply of and and an all food supplies, for the food service industry professional, or for the thirfty foodie. Incredible selection of produce Their grocery bags are also capable and strong, not like super store of nofrills. I was able to hang 4 plump bags of groceries on my bike, and pedal to my kitchen only a few blocks away.
