Came in for something quick and nearby. Ordered the lunch special unagi don set. A no-frills, non-Japanese run Japanese restaurant. Found the shredded daikon mixed with the re-heated packaged unagi to be a little bit of a strange combination. The imitation crab meat with tobiko on top also seemed like an odd garnish. Bad presentation, although I see the effort. Not sure about how often prep gloves are changed but was concerned to see the hostess touching a lot of things with the same glove and then serving my food with same gloves hand’s thumb sticking int the food in my bowl. Sauce dripping down side of bowl could have been wiped off before serving to me. Made my hands sticky. I didn’t get diarrhoea so all good. Probably wouldn’t come back though.

High quality ingredients with friendly chef. This is a small sushi bar that specializes in a wide variety of seasonal fish selection, with omakase (no fixed price) available. I recommend the assorted sashimi plate, very good value for its quality of fish and chef's personal touches (marinate, torch, etc.) However, the menu appears to fall short when the ingredients require more processing. The seafood udon was too salty (note that they were kind to feedback and remade it), and the rainbow roll was falling apart with chopsticks. Again we could taste the high quality of the ingredients, but the assembly needs improvement. Overall, a restaurant that'll likely become the neighborhood's new favorite with the friendly service and good quality.

May 19, 2025 Update We treated ourselves to omakase menu last night and were so happy we did. We left satisfied and full. The fish was extremely fresh and flavorful. Michelle and chef Leon were so great and personable, as usual. They now have help because they're busier which was so nice to see! Happy we got a chance to eat in this time - it definitely won't be the last! So happy that a new sushi restaurant opened up just across the street from us at work. The sushi tray was a big hit - fresh ingredients and good rice to fish ratio. Will definitely be a regular here for sure as the price point can't be beat. So nice to meet you Chef Leon and Michelle. Thank you for the kindness and see you both soon!

Seiko Sushi is a great little sushi place that opened a few months ago. It is quite small with seating for about 15 people on West Broadway close to Oak (and VGH). The chef has a long history of making sushi, both in Japan and recently in Seattle...and he knows what he is doing. Came by in a group of two for lunch on a weekday. Opted to share the Roll Set (Dynamite Roll, California Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll) with the Tuna Salmon Combo (Tuna Roll, Salmon Roll and 2 pieces each of Salmon and Tuna Nigiri). The presentation and taste of each roll/nigiri was perfect...loved the tuna. And the service was excellent, with our server continually refilling our green tea. What a nice bonus to have a small complimentary decorated piece of orange after the meal...a perfect ending to a perfect lunch.

It was a very positive food experience and happy to recommend...

My girlfriend and I have become regulars at Saiko Sushi, and it’s easily one of our favourite dinner spots in Vancouver. We usually come for dinner service, and every visit has been consistently outstanding.

Chef Leon and Michelle are incredibly hospitable — they always make us feel welcome and remembered. The restaurant focuses on nigiri in an omakase-like style, which really lets the quality of the ingredients shine. Leon uses a thoughtful mix of fresh local seafood and premium fish from Japan, and you can taste the difference.

Some of our favourites include the king salmon, otoro, and their prawn tempura — which, in my opinion, is unlike any other in the city. Light, crispy, and full of flavor.

If you're a fan of authentic, high-quality sushi with a personal touch, Saiko Sushi is...
