Silom Thai Restaurant on Knight Street is easily my favorite Thai spot in Vancouver, and it never fails to impress me. From the warm and welcoming atmosphere to the incredibly flavorful dishes, everything about this place keeps me coming back for more.
First and foremost, the Pad See Ew is an absolute must-try. The texture of the noodles is perfectly chewy, and the rich, smoky flavor is a testament to how well this dish is prepared. It’s always cooked to perfection, making it one of the best I’ve had in the city.
Another standout dish is the Crispy Chicken with Green Curry. The chicken is fried to a satisfying crisp while still being juicy inside, and it pairs beautifully with the creamy, aromatic green curry. It’s such a comforting combination of textures and flavors.
One of the hidden gems on the menu is the Grilled Pork Jowl. The meat is tender and perfectly seasoned, with a slight smokiness that enhances its flavor. It’s a dish I always recommend to friends because it’s unique, satisfying, and absolutely delicious.
If you’re looking for something a little different, the Pad Thai with Glass Noodles is another must-try. The balance of sweet and sour flavors is spot on, and the use of glass noodles adds a light yet springy texture that makes the dish stand out from more traditional versions of Pad Thai.
The food here is consistently amazing, but what makes Silom Thai even better is the incredible service. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, always ready to recommend dishes based on your preferences. They’re knowledgeable about the menu and take the time to ensure you have a great dining experience.
On top of all that, the portions are generous, and the pricing is very reasonable, especially considering the quality and care that goes into every dish. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, you’re guaranteed a satisfying and authentic Thai meal.
If you’re a fan of Thai cuisine or just looking to try something new, I can’t recommend Silom Thai Restaurant enough. It’s the perfect spot for a casual lunch, dinner with friends, or even a special occasion. This place is truly a gem in Vancouver, and I’m so glad it’s just a...
Read moreA bit of a later post as we visited in October and they had just opened recently. So take that with a grain of salt when reading this.
This little shop is located in Knight Street (near Kingsway). It was kinda chilly inside even with the space heaters. The wooden chairs weren't that comfortable.
We ordered the Pad Thai ($19 add shrimp +$2), Green Curry Chicken ($18) which was fairly spicy. I really liked the small green eggplants that came in the curry. Ordered the Jasmine Rice ($3) which is really necessary for curry.
We decided to try the Silom Platter ($27) so we could try a little bit of everything. It came with grilled chicken wings, grilled pork jowl, pork balls, papaya salad (they did tell us when we ordered that it would take about 25 mins to grill the food). Good flavors.
We also ordered the Roti ($8) which came with curry dipping sauce. I think they forgot our order because the dish didn't come out and I had to ask for it after finishing most of our meal already. The roti is very light and airy and crispy. Unlike other roti that we've had in the past at other places, there were no layers to make the roti fluffy inside but I still think this dish was good.
Could use some refinement on service as we had to ask for our water to be refilled and they forgot one of our disheseven though there was only 1 other table when we visited. Note that we visited a couple of months ago so things may...
Read moreEDIT: Bizarre attempt at gaslighting me in their response. I was never informed that the table was for a reservation, and never informed there were any parties ahead of me. Additionally, "eye contact" was never made by the server. I stood outside the restaurant for 30 minutes, 20 of which where the table stood empty with no explanation.
Was keen to try Silom, however we never got the chance.
We came on a Saturday around 7pm for a table of 3, and were told the wait would be about 30 minutes. Within a couple minutes a table left, however it took 10 minutes until that table was cleared. The server eventually did wipe the table and set 3 menus down, but we were still not seated.
Another 15 minutes pass, and a group of 2 walked in. A table was cleared for them and they were seated before us, despite us waiting 20 minutes for a table that was seemingly ready. At this point we decided to leave, only for the server to call us several minutes later. We decided against returning.
Overall a bizarre and unpleasant experience. The table was available, but we were never seated. The server made eye contact with us several times and chose not to...
