Diarrhea city. Arrived there at 8PM on a Sunday - we were on our way home from a wonderful beach day. Surprisingly the place was literally empty. (It should have been a sign to get out. Fast.) We didn't feel welcomed. The waitress tried her best but lacked sincerity. A man (that looks like the owner's son skulked about) made us feel like we were intruding his space as he stared at the login screen of his gaming laptop. The tables were bare old plywood affairs that have seen their best days years ago. Cutlery and service ware are something you'd see from a high school cafeteria in the late 80's early 90's. The mood is set. Now for the pood. Saganaki was not sizzling. Salty. Cheese had crunchy bits. The cheese was a decent size but it came with ONE pita bread. One. This I’ve never seen. I asked for more (and was charged for it - fine). I over heard our waitress yelling at the kitchen to get on it and that she will ring me up for it right away. Hmmm. Entrees came at a normal time. Not at the same time though. My sons calamari dinner came a much later the rest. Hmmm. We were the only ones at the restaurant. Why was it late? My large pork souvlaki was tender but far too salty. Nothing about this dish felt "large". I'm curious to see what a regular one would look like. My wife's roast lamb was a healthy portion and tasted good - not bad except it was salty. My sons calamari dinner had no rice. Just greens and calamari. Fine. Maybe it's my fault for not reading the description thoroughly. The calamari felt too tender and smelled fishy. The waitress comes more frequently to check up on us but really made us feel like we should leave...though her words did not say it. Mr gaming laptop looked impatient. We paid for our food. As we walk to our car my 6 year old gets an explosive bowel movement as we got to the car seat. My poor boy. The calamari which came last were served raw and must have been sitting there somewhere the kitchen in an unsanitary condition. Safe to say we are never coming back. The kicker is for three main course plates and one appetizer we paid $108 bucks I guess it did come with bad service and poisonous food. Yeeah. This place deserves zero...
Read moreWarning do not order takeout from this restaurant!!!!
I rarely give reviews, I just don't have the time. I will only give reviews if the service was extremely bad or amazing. Unfortunately this is a really bad review, I wish I could give them a negative rating but unfortunately one star is the lowest rating I could give them.
We ordered takeout from them yesterday we ordered five items. When I got to the restaurant to pick it up the order they had only made 4 dishes and of the four items 1 of them was wrong. So technically they screwed up two of the five items. Not a little screw up.
The manager Morenos quickly came over and said mistakes happen we will correct this give me "5 minutes"
Well I guess in Greece 5 minutes really means closer to 40 minutes. In Canada to myself and all other Canadians 5 minutes means 5 minutes.
I waited and I waited and I waited Marino's 5 minutes was actually closer to 40 minutes I'd gone to the restaurant at 6:35 and I left the restaurant at 7:15.
I had assumed the manager/owner would give me some sort of discount for waiting or at least one of the dishes on the house. However I was not offered a discount I paid $70 plus dollars for my takeout and it was all cold including the new dish he had made me. Least to say my kids and I were not happy and I had to reheat all of the food and it was very average food at that for a Greek restaurant. I highly recommend you go to Maria's taverna or double D's pizza which is the best around if you want good Greek food or pizza and their service is impeccable and they are super friendly.
For the waitress that screwed up the order and got three out of five items incorrect you get an F
To Marino the manager/owner who said "give me 5 minutes" which turned into 40 minutes you also get an F.
To my wife who put in the order and failed to verify the correct items you get a c- . But at least my...
Read moreGreat food, heartless manager. We came to the restaurant around 3 pm on Saturday. It was completely dead. We were the only people there. The waiters were nice and very attentive, food was excellent. Our fun came to a close when one more member of the group joined our party. Due to her highly restrictive diet she was not able to eat anything from the restaurant, so she brought her mineral water and small box of sushi as she was hungry but didn't want to miss the celebration. The male manager showed up and told her strictly that no outside food is allowed. She replied that she just came a few minutes ago and can leave right away. We tried to explain to the manager that the restaurant does not have any suitable food for this person. Clearly we didn't want to specify the medical reasoning for the diet as those things are to be kept confidential. The manager didn't want to accommodate us. We left the restaurant right away but our whole experience was ruined by the tactless heartless behavior of that manager ( again - the rest of the staff was amazing). Just think about it- you have 12 people come into your EMPTY restaurant, each of them ordered food, some drinks and you complain about one person in that group bringing some other food because your restaurant has no healthy options to serve that person???? It's a shame that those type of people exist in our community. We shall not go to this restaurant again. There are plenty of other Greek restaurants that truly care and understand about special needs of...
