I visited this place today and thought the food was decent overall. Most of the staff were quite friendly, but there was one server who really made the experience uncomfortable. She had a nose ring and several tattoos on her chest, including a noticeable strawberry tattoo.
I ordered a butterfly pastry and wanted to take a nice photo of it for my social media. I politely asked if I could have one that looked a bit nicer, as the one I received didnât really resemble a butterfly and was a bit burnt. Without saying much, she brought a new one and practically tossed it onto the table â it felt very rude and unnecessary.
At the end of the meal, I asked for a takeout bag since I had quite a few things to pack. Unfortunately, she was the one who helped me again. Her facial expression was unpleasant, and the sarcastic smile when she said âOf course â 25 centsâ made the whole interaction feel very dismissive and disrespectful.
The food itself was okay, but her attitude left such a negative impression that I honestly wouldnât feel comfortable coming back. I hope the management takes this kind of service seriously, as it really affects the overall experience.
UpdateïŒ Thank you for your reply. I understand that your team has been under pressure and short-staffed, and I truly respect anyone who works hard in the service industry. However, that does not justify dismissive or rude customer service. My comments were never about her tattoos or piercings â I only mentioned those details to help you identify who I interacted with, not to criticize her appearance.
Yes, she completed my request â but the way she did it, by practically slamming the plate down in front of me, made me feel extremely disrespected. In the service industry, do you truly believe that kind of behavior is acceptable? If you feel my description is exaggerated, I encourage you to review your security footage and observe how she handed me the plate, as well as her facial expressions and general demeanor.
Before leaving my review, I also took the time to read past feedback. Unfortunately, I saw Iâm not the first person to mention this employeeâs rude behavior â which makes it even more concerning that this pattern hasnât been addressed.
Itâs disappointing to receive a response that dismisses my concerns and frames them as personal attacks, rather than acknowledging how the interaction may have come across to a customer.
Iâm glad she is valued by your team and community â but every guest, even a first-time visitor, deserves to feel welcome and respected. Thatâs all I was...
Read moreEdited review after 2 more visits. First, I was touched by the way the owner responded to my candid review after my first visit. In a city full of outstanding bakeries, competition is tough. Personal touch makes a big difference to me. I accepted the owner's gracious offer to give the bakery a try. In my first time back, I had chocolate croissant with coffee. The đ„ was basically everything I wanted: super crunchy layers with flakes that fly everywhere when you bite into it, and with just the right amount of chocolate inside. I asked for it to be warmed up. It was heavenly when it came out...with the chocolate all warm and melty/gooey.
Today, I went back for a 3rd visit and had not only the same croissant but also tried the mushroom toast, wgich was delicious! I'm generally not a fan of poached eggs with yolk that drips all over my bread, but I liked this toast regardless. Maybe I could have the egg scrambled next time?
I also picked up some local jams with very unique flavors as gifts. I'm sure they'll be well-received.
In short, the $10 offer from the owner increased the lifetime value of this customer many times over. Thank you for the good faith and coffee.
Original review: Gotta say...didn't like the strawberry rhubarb hand pie. Specifically, it was the pie crust that didn't do it for me. It just seemed too soft and kind of soggy. The filling inside was just okay. I like the interior light-filled and spacious seating area though, and the interesting assortment of jams from other local makers that they sell. So I might still return for just a...
Read moreToday we were walking around the Main Street area. I thought I had already tried all the popular cafĂ©s, but then I came across this one by chance â and was immediately drawn to its beautiful exterior. I was genuinely surprised to find such a charming cafĂ©! Thereâs a nice row of outdoor tables where we could sit with our dog. Inside, the cafĂ© is spacious, bright, and filled with a tempting variety of pastries that all look delicious. I ordered a Danish mushroom and sausage roll, plus an Avocado Toast breakfast sourdough with eggs. When I saw the shelves full of different sourdough breads, I was even more excited â whole-grain sourdough is actually quite rare in Vancouver! I think this will be my go-to spot for buying bread from now on. They use beans from Parallel for their coffee, and I ordered a cortado. We took a number and sat outside to wait for breakfast. I had originally planned to save the two pastries I bought for later, but they looked too good â I couldnât resist! Everything was delicious, and the coffee was smooth and well-balanced. Breakfast arrived beautifully plated, with two perfectly cooked poached eggs. Overall, this cafĂ© is a real gem â bright, cozy, and absolutely worth...
