Went to Breka location on main street on March 12 around 7:30pm stayed there until 10:50pm.
I ordered one pistacho filled donuts, one red velvet cake, one new york cheesecake, two iced americanos. (Order#18) Service was terrible. I was trying to find a table and the staff yelled out order #18,
I was ready to go pick up the desserts, however staff was very impatient and kept yelling out order#18. Once I went to pick up the order, they were all laughing with each other (In an annoyed impression)
Server that helped me based on receipt stated: Yuni. Yuni (if correct) and her co-workers were very: 1. Impatient. 2: shouldn’t looked so annoyed in a customer service environment. 3. Shouldn’t be yelling in an impatient tone.
Second bad experience: Waited more than 15minutes for my two iced americanos, which is fine, however the problem started when:
I patiently waited and asked one of the baristas in a calm tone, if my iced americano is being made, right there an asian employee with glasses looked IMPATIENT and ANNOYED at me for inquiring about my order. I didnt want to show an angry or annoyed response to them because I did not want them to feel more stressed during their shift.
But now, the baristas that took my order around 7:30-8:15pm order#18 by Yuni, as that was the name stated on receipt, needs to be trained better on:
1.Maintaining professional customer service Being more patient Do not yell sounding annoyed Do not laugh with each other, having that impression of “can this customer not hear us or something?” Understand that the baristas are getting “PAID” to work, not to laugh at their customers.
Yuni and her co-workers during their shifts needs to understand that their customers can see what is going on as well. They need to have a better understanding from a customer’s perceptive.
When I went to pick up the desserts, they didn't even say thank you, they just kept laughing. Whether it is a fact of: being annoyed or just laughing, they need to know the basic gestures of: thank you’s
Laughing with each other while handing out desserts to their customers does not look good from a customer’s perspective.
PS: you can even check the security cameras if needed.
This cafe is amazing and I would highly recommend to others, but these certain employees on March 12th around 7:30-10:50pm needs to have a better understanding of customer professionalism.
They need to understand, they are working in a customer service environment and that they signed up for this...
Read moreIt seems like I have been going to this place forever since their original store at Fraser and 49th. I used to grab a coffee and donut at this place while waiting for my daughter's skating finishing at nearby sunset rink. Since then I have tried their location at downtown and the latest at main street.
One thing that I can think of is consistancy no matter where you go , the quality is always there. To begin with, their coffee rivals those in the specialty coffee shop and the price is equal if not lower. I love their Americano and cappuccino. Their bread selection is where it all started and it shows. Omg you can take half an hour just gawking at the selections they have and still undecided. My favorite though is still the cranberry walnut the bread. Once you try this I swear you will have a tough time eating regular multigrain bread. Beware they have no preservatives so shelf live is very short but never a problem as we usually finished it within days. That good. Also don't store them in the fridge just room temperature will give you at least 3 days.
Their other star selection are the cakes and pastries. My go to are the apple strudel cake and the apple torte, it is a bargain for how much you get for so little you pay and most of all, they are VERY good!! Lastly they have a huge selection of dessert pastries and donuts which changes from morning to night( if you don't know by now, they open 24/7) what you see in the morning at breakfast will be quite different from at night after dinner. My go to morning donut is always the chocolate custard ( Boston cream to most) they are big and the filling is very generous not like the Tim Horton. My after dinner dessert easily a toss up between the mango mousse and the...
Read moreThis cafe in the Main Street has been on my list for a while and today I could come out for lunch as the rain stopped in the morning.
I had a good appetite today so I ordered a “3-course” lunch. My “starter” was the Soup of the Day - Italian Wedding. This soup had many ingredients such as Pork sausage, carrot, onion, spinach, orzo pasta, white wine, garlic, sea salt, pepper and spices. All these ingredients mixed together nicely for a rich and full taste that surprised me. It came with a crispy toast. Very nice!
The “main course” was the Italian Pocket. It was served on a flaky puff pastry and lightly grilled. The ingredients are basil pesto sauce, smoked meat chunks, ham, sundried tomato, olives, red onion and mozzarella cheese. I have never eaten the Italian Pocket and it gave me the experience of tasting the multiple layers of meat and cheese that was compressed in a pocket. It served with a pickle cucumber which is my favourite. The portion was large but stomach filling.
The “desserts” was cheesecake brownie. It was a brownie fudge bar topped with a rich layer of marbled cheesecake. It taste good and even better as The Italian Pocket was salty and I needed something sweet - and not too sweet.
Overall speaking the cafe has many choices of breads and cakes. The interior is spacious and the tables are well distanced from each other. A good environment with good quality of foods - no wonder why there is always a queue waiting to order foods.
The only caution is the ventilation wasn’t very well. The baking smell was strong and it could not effectively be ventilated. Perhaps they should keep the door open for more in-flow...
