Man if I was not half full from late lunch and snack. I would ordered an appetizer as the fried chicken was good as my friend ordered it as his meal. The food here is excellent and delicious. I ordered the pork chop... wow.... it is so good and complements to the chefs. The chop had a good crust and cooked to perfection. Sometimes there are times you do need chimichurri sauce but the sauce is really good. Other restaurants' chimichurri sauce is either too oily or not much flavour. The chimichurri sauce here has taste and flavour such the herbs being used which enhances the porkchop to a whole new level. The power level of "over 9000!!!!!!!" (Sorry Dragonball Z joke). The poutine is also good as well. The dessert is good too. The size of the cake surprised me as I thought it would be a tiny or regular slice but the portion of the cake get your money's worth. Even the service is superb. -------- Update: September 2, 2023. Major disappointment then when I went 4 years ago. Pulled pork Poutine was disappointing because the fries was soggy not crispy. The taste is not the same as before. Cesar salad was not bad but a bit critiusy The best was the meatballs. Nice and juicy meatballs with nice sweet sauce. However my disappointment was the pork chop. The chop was so bland that the peppercorn sauce does not enhance the dish. There is no chimichurri sauce nor server ask about it. But I have a feeling the sauce is no longer available. Even the pork chop was dry... it was tough to swallow.... Service was okay nothing special. And the atmosphere.... music blaring loud makes it hard to talk to people. After this experience, I do not think I will return. Very disappointing dinner....

The flying pig has an easy going vibe that’s great for most occasions - date night, birthdays, catchup with friends, etc. I went there for brunch and their smoked salmon egg benny was delicious - thought the focaccia bread was a nice touch instead of the standard english muffin. It also comes with a side of crispy potatoes, which had that satisfying crunch and a basic salad. It’s a good portion for the price ($18.50), so I’d recommend this dish. We also got the red wine braised beef short rib (dinner menu), a side of crispy Brussels sprouts along with the lobster & prawn risotto. The braised short rib comes with bone marrow and mash potatoes with cheese on top. It’s quite a rich and heavy dish. You definitely need to love meat and I’ll say the crispy cheese on the mash potatoes was a nice touch. I felt it was okay, but wouldn’t pay $34.50. I feel most people like crispy Brussels sprouts and this side dish was no exception - balance of saltiness from capers offset by the lemon creates a great combo and you feel a bit healthy because it’s veggies. My only thing about this dish was that it’s a bit oily, but again, what do you expect. It’s definitely a good side if you’re having meat heavy dishes. Lastly, the Lobster & Prawn Risotto. I liked how they had chunks of seafood in it, but I felt like it could’ve had more flavour to it. Risotto isn’t my favourite dish either, but my friend was a big fan. Overall, this place is great for brunch and happy hour. Food was overall good and no real complaints. I don’t know if I’d come here for a special occasion, but it’s definitely a good casual place to chat, with a cozy vibe and comforting food.

First time here in years. $11 parking for 90 minutes outside, just fyi y'all. We were greeted kindly, and seated immediately at the table by the window to the left of the front door entrance inside. Our Bookenda reservation process was smooth and efficient. While the table location was ideal for distancing from others, and offered a nice viewing of the rest of the restaurant, we were in direct audible range of the gentleman host/greeter who spoke to everyone at Volume 11. It was quite irritating and my ears were ringing from his voice that seemed like shouting at top volume to each customer coming in to check in. I could not stay to order dessert because of this. Our server was on point and very cordial and checked in on us often. Dinner - I regret ordering the trout dinner; I saw pictures of a blackened trout on Yelp, and was hoping to get that, but instead it was a small, pink portion of trout steak, the skin was not crispy but rather slimy. The entree was laid over what I imagine Uncle Ben's rice tastes like - overcooked, large-grained, not tender, and with sad greens. I don't even want to share a photo of it. I didn't return or reorder something because of how loud it was there; I just wanted to eat and go. The meat and cheese board was fantastic, nice value, and a photo worth sharing. I hope they bring back the salmon sampler appetizer that is a highlight of many photos related to this restaurant; I was sad that they did not offer this.

Let me start by saying that I work in costumer service myself and I hate to leave bad reviews for a business specially if it's something subjective. However, in this case I feel like this establishment should not get away with this as it might reflect on the whole industry and other Yaletown restaurants. Last Friday, my buddy and I wanted to grab a couple of beers before going for dinner and since it was Taylor swift night, everywhere was packed and only this place had spots by the bar available. We sit down and wait for at least 10 mins, I get it it's a busy night, so finally I get the bartender's eye and say "hey how u doing? can we get a couple beers here ?" He looks me dead in the eyes and says "only if you say PLEASE"; no indication of joking or anything. I'm like "excuse me! We've been waiting for 10 mins and you don't even look our way even though you're not that busy and I am not 5 years old so please don't talk to me like that"; He pours the beers and slams it in front of us in a way almost a quarter of beer spills out. I call the manager and explain calmly what happened and say this is unacceptable and he says sorry and he'll go talk to him. He walks up to him, pats him on shoulder and says something and they both laugh. I feel pretty disrespected at this point and then the bartender comes and says rudely " just let me know when you guys are done and wanna pay" I call the manager again and say "is there another bartender we can talk to because this guy is clearly very rude and has no costumer service manners". The manager says "no this is all we have tonight." Then the bartender comes and again says "don't think if I'm standing there I don't hear that you're speaking s..t about me" to which I reply you are very rude and I don't really wanna talk to you. Then he has the audacity to take both beers away from in front of us and says "get out". What I have recounted here is verbatim and I challenge the restaurant manager to refute anything here I have said. Now I am a local in Yaletown and most restaurants know me by name and give me free drinks since I frequent them so much and am friends with most staff. Never have I had such an experience in a Yaletown joint and when I try to talk to the manager again on the way out and mentioned that when I haven't said or done anything out of line you need to really discipline your staff, he tells me " Sorry I take my staff's side under any circumstances any day of the week" I get it, it was Taylor Swift weekend and if the manager said anything to this obviously unbalanced bartender and he left his post, the restaurant would be under a lot of strain but I believe there should be a line the restaurant staff should not cross and if they do there should be some accountability. I guess there is a reason that Earles, Cactus, dovetail etc. have line ups in front of them and flying pig is only 30-40% full on the busiest of nights. It's a shame because I actually like their patio in the summer but if this nonsense continues I am afraid they would join the long list of restaurants that went bankrupt and need to close; Unless the ownership did something about the...

First timer at this restaurant and heard good reviews on this restaurant group. However they fell short of their food. I was with a small group but seated way at the back. I decided to try the dine out Vancouver menu.

The server was friendly and welcoming. Read out the specials and answered any questions. Since Im a fan of Bone Marrow dishes, I really wanted to try to substitute for my Carpaccio for the Bone marrow dish, but the server mention just to add a piece for $5. I liked suggestion, and ordered the Grilled Striploin with charred broccolini and peppercorn sauce.

My appetizer came out with my bone Marrow. The Carpaccio is the same as any other restaurant, they could have been a little creative on this. But it was cold and my bone marrow was STONE cold. Zero seasoning and no bread with it. So Server came on to check on us, I told him and he said he would take it off my bill. But I don't mind paying, I willing to give the kitchen another try, to showcase their food. Dinner was a little behind about 45 minutes. The steak was the highlight of the meal, charred perfectly to my liking. The peppercorn sauce was delicious but I would like a bit more and some salt. Again my bone marrow was missing. My server checked on it, but when it arrived, it was a little warm on the top with a bit more seasoning but cold overall. I didn't bother asking another one, cause I would expect the same outcome. The best bone marrow dish I had was at the dockside restaurant.

Overall, the kitchen really failed to deliver, service was good. I'm surprised with 3 locations, they cannot season their food. At least serve it warm. Twice I had cold food. Unacceptable. My suggestion they should really check on the food and get a support staff to check the tables for water and other needs. And the other comments that it takes long for food is very true. Definitely a...

AVOID going to this place at all costs!

I have been to the Flying Pig in Yaletown many times for drinks or food and I have decided not to step my foot in that place, ever again after the horrible experience my brother in law and I had last week there. We went there and sat at the bar to have couple of drinks. We waited for 15 minutes and the bartender did not even look at us to ask us what we wanted. We told him we've been waiting for a while and when I asked him if there was happy hour at that time he said "give me a second" which he could have just said yes, but after a few minutes he brought us the happy hour menu. When we told him could we get couple of amber ale beers, he said "only if you say please"!! and he was NOT joking! At this point we asked for the restaurant manager and told him about what happened and while we are talking with the manger the bartender came with the two beers and slammed them on the counter in front of us!! The manager said he'll talk to him, he is busy today etc (the bar and the restaurant were half empty). He goes to the side and talks to him and they laugh!! and manager comes back and says it's all cool now after their "talk"! The bartender then said to us whenever you are ready to leave let me know!! We called the manager again so he would step in as the bartender was so rude you could not even talk to him. Now the manager said "I don't know what happened between you guys here but I will take my bartender's side any time of the day"!! The bartender poured the two beers down the drain and the manager said "sorry but you'll have to leave!!". Unbelievable! We have never experienced such a shockingly horrible service in Vancouver and we go to 2 or 3 restaurants every week mainly in Yaletown and never had any issues but this place is...
