I am vegan and visiting a friend from Van, she told me she heard about Meet and we were both really excited to try this vegan restaurant. Lets just say that it really didn’t MeeT our expectations. Unfortunately our experience was a disaster. When we got there, the bartender rolled her eyes at us for walking in at 10:57, when the restaurant closes at 12 and we had taken the time to call ahead to make sure that it was ok for us to come, out of respect as fellow industry workers. My friend and I both went to the bathroom after sitting down and when we came out of the bathroom came face to face with a mouse. We didn’t know we were signing up for a meet & greet with mickey mouse in person, it was giving ratatouille. Jokes aside, we were caught off guard about the incident but since we both work in restaurants and bars and we understand that rodents can appear sometimes , we still ordered. The food came a few minutes after we ordered and it looked really great. Unfortunately I just felt like everything was really salty overall. Since i have been vegan for years, it’s not my first rodeo on the vegan food scene, I even work in 2 restaurants in another big city in Canada. I don’t know if it is a lack of research on how to make a good vegan mac n cheese or a good “au jus”, but everything was drenched in salt, even tasted like soy sauce, and it felt disappointing. There are so many good vegan ingredients out there and it’s just sad that this is what the final result is. While we were eating, we told the waitress in a quiet voice (as we didn’t want the girls in the other booth to overhear) that the restaurant might have a small mice problem since we came face to face with one. We didn’t want them to step on a mouse and we just wanted to warn them, she laughed it off. We ordered another round of drinks, because we still wanted to have a nice night together since I rarely see this friend and I am visiting for a few days only. When the bill came, we still tipped 15% since we didn’t wanna cause a scene. We just felt a little disrespected by the fact that us pointing out a health and safety violation was taken as a joke. There was even one of those boxes mice trap under the little table where the mouse ran-off to, so it seemed like the workers knew about the problem already. If i were the owner reading this I would maybe have a conversation with my staff about customer service and how to take care of guests, the woman at the bar could barely look at us even tho we were 8 people in the whole restaurant. Where I work, if someone ever sees a mouse, their WHOLE meal is gifted. My bosses always thought us to care about our image and we would never want someone to write that on google review. At this point it’s not even about the money, just since my friend and I both work in service, we felt like the workers there didn’t care if we would ever come back or not. Even just giving a free cookie or drink, whats the cost of that compared to losing potential clients? I honestly very rarely write reviews online, but this just honestly...

Read moreFrequented MeeT (all its locations) multiple times, including MeeT Yaletown. Went again last night and had a really disappointing experience. Server was kind and appys were okay, and Noodle-y Thai bowl was passable, but the specials were exceptionally disappointing. The SWAP Chicken burger was dry, too heavy, and monotonous, and the buffalo sauce was bland. However, my biggest letdown was the Satay Skewer bowl. My "satay sauce" was weirdly thick and scramble-ish, not spicy at all, and not of proper saucy consistency. The skewers were completely charred, and there was no seasoning and topping. I ate some of my portion and didn't take any leftovers, and just assumed that it was one of their worse specials. However, I felt increasingly nauseous at night and did check their IG to see the special. They describe it as "flame kissed", and it is to be topped with "chilli flakes, sesame seeds and fresh green onions". The sauce, as visible in the pic, is supposed to be thin and malleable. I'm let down to see I was basically served a low quality version of the dish. Had I known that it was so far from the execution and that's why it was unpleasant, I would have asked for support right then.
My serving had no garnishes of the flakes, seeds or onions, just a few measly cilantro leaves, the skewers were absolutely charred, the sauce chunky, thick and cold, and to top it off, the rice was quite overcooked and gummy. For $23, this is unacceptable variation...
