This was the absolute best deal I could find for hotels in the city of #Vancouver. I walked a TON and still managed over 3 hours of virtual interviews. I’m exhausted, but my heart is very full 💗

In general, I liked the hotel. There is not that much negative things to say about it. Originally I booked a Standard Room for 3 nights, but because of my requests (a room on a high floor with a nice city view, which they did not have at that moment) the front desk manager was very nice to me and upgraded me for free to a Suite. The entire front desk staff was very nice and friendly, by the way. My Suite (#802) was great! Its spacing was spectacular, like a whole 1-bedroom apartment. There was a little hall, a living room, a bedroom and bathroom. The design of my room was in classic Best Western Hotel style, nothing really fancy. The furniture in general was in good condition, but some pieces of furniture were old and crappy and they needed to be replaced. Also the sofa and carpets seemed dusty, they needed to be cleaned better. Like I mentioned before, I got the room on a high (8th) floor with a nice city view. There was a balcony off my Suite, which was a big plus. My room also had big panoramic windows, which gave a lot of day light inside. It felt nice to stay in the Living Room. It had 2 tables (one for working), a sofa, a big leather chair, a TV and refrigerator. The bedroom had 2 Queen Size Beds. They were very comfortable. Also there was another TV in the bedroom, plus, a little closet, a chair and a luggage holder. The little hall in my room had also a big closet. The bathroom looked remodeled. Everything there was in very good condition. I wish it had a little bit more space. Bathtub was a big plus. Unfortunately, the shower head did not work nicely, the water was spraying all over. I did not like the bathroom amenities, they were cheap and smelled awful. Another little minus was no toilet brush in the bathroom. Wi-Fi was working well during my entire stay. The hotel’s location is good. It is on a busy/party area of Downtown. There are a lot of shops and restaurants around. The distance to the water front is walkable. It is like a 12 min walk to Sunset Beach Park, which is a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy nature. At night the area where the hotel was located was very noisy because of some clubs and bars around. Last thing I want to mention is the rate I paid for the hotel. The price was approximately U.S. $270 per night. For a Standard Room I originally booked it obviously was a lot of money. For the Suite which I got upgraded to, this price seemed more reasonable. But in all honesty, this rate was still super overpriced for just an okay standard Best Western Hotel. In general, hotels in Vancouver for that period were super pricy, nothing cheaper then U.S. $240 per night. Nobody could explain why. Finalizing my review, I absolutely can recommend this hotel for a stay in Vancouver.

I would recommend avoiding this hotel or others in the surrounding area for the following reasons: The Good I specifically looked for a spacious room, and this hotel delivered on that front. Within a "reasonable" budget, finding a 500 sq ft space in downtown—complete with a dedicated bedroom for four and a separate living room with a sofa that can accommodate four—is rare. The layout isn’t perfect, likely due to the building being somewhat outdated, but the bed was comfortable, and the property is reasonably well-maintained overall. However the wifi did not work time to time. Fridge door had a broken compartment though the management did acknowledge and apologize. The parking lot costs about $32 CAD per night. Overall I think hotel experience itself deserves a four star rating. The Bad The main issue here. The hotel is located in an area where homelessness is a prevalent issue. While I didn’t feel there was any immediate danger, having to navigate around the individuals in the area was uncomfortable and detracted from the experience. Another concern was the widespread smoking and vaping on the streets, which was particularly troubling as I was traveling with my children. Due to these issues, we were unable to walk to the Gastown Steam Clock, a major attraction we had hoped to visit. For those wanting to explore Gastown by foot, I would suggest choosing a hotel closer to the northeast part of downtown. These same concerns also limited our dining options nearby, as I felt uncomfortable walking to some of the great restaurants in the area, though still a dozen of good ones were available fortunately. If these environmental challenges can be addressed, this hotel could be a much more appealing choice.

I was actually quite impressed with this Hotel, knowing it was a chain hotel I didn't have very high expectations about the room so I was blown away.

The rooms were huge compared to many of the more upscale hotels I've stayed at here in Downtown Vancouver. When I first walked into the living room I was expecting everything to be all in one room and wondered where the beds were and if we got ripped off but to my surprise there was a separate bedroom which was great. The living room was quite large and had a nice sized patio to go out on and view the city. Our view from the 5th floor was great so I can only imagine what a higher floor would look like.

The street level was quite noisy being that the hotel is located in the entertainment district but once we closed the window it was quiet enough. The hotel does provide earplugs located in the bedside table if you are a light sleeper.

Minutes away there are several restaurants and 5 minutes down Granville there is almost every fast food place to choose from if you don't feel like sit in dining.

This was a last minute decision to come here and stay over night so I searched through the best prices hotels and found Best Western was the best price for quality. We had booked two rooms and even that was cheaper than one night/one room at other places located nearby. After enjoying our stay here I really can't believe I've spent $500 per night at so called "5 star" hotels here in downtown Vancouver and had much worse experiences.

The only thing I could say that may come across as negative would be that the rooms felt slightly dated and the walls and beds could use an upgrade. The mattress was a little stiff but it didn't bother me too much and the pillows were a very nice quality!

The room was very clean, not a spot of dust or grime to be found anywhere even in places you wouldn't normally check. Bathroom was cleaned well and stocked properly.

This was really a great deal and great stay, keep up the amazing work I will definitely come back here again when looking for an affordable...

The entire guest facing staff in the lobby was AMAZING! So friendly! There were typically three people at the front desk and one person at the separate desk. (I think it might have been the concierge desk?) The house keeping staff was wonderful as well. All staff members always said hello, had a genuine happy tone and a smile. They were so kind!||The property is in very good condition. The hotel and our room were immaculately clean! This is always a top priority for us. No crunchy carpets, YAY! The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows.||The location was close to everything including Metro stations within 4-5 blocks either direction. There are multiple major bus routes just outside the hotel. The Vancouver bus system is EXCELLENT and efficient! We rode between 9AM and 8PM and found the busses to be clean and safe.||There are a number of very good and affordable restaurants within walking distance.||I had read where street noise could be an issue but we did not find this to be the case. There were even earplugs in the room should you have had a noise issue. We did not have to use them. The hotel is located in a very active entertainment district so some noise is to be expected.||As to be expected in a high traffic entertainment area, there were some unhoused residents. We are from a large city and found it to be fewer than what we are used to. I say this not as a negative but in the interest of full transparency. They were not aggressive nor were they panhandling. We were not bothered at any point by any of them.||The rates at this property are very reasonable for what you get. I loved the attention a smaller property can give. We travel a lot all over the world and I believe this may have been our best hotel experience...
