A Brunch Experience Worth Writing Home About: Hard Bean Brunch Company
Our Hawaiian cruise adventure began with an unexpected gem—the Hard Bean Brunch Company in Vancouver. A day before embarking on our 17-day journey, my husband Patrick and I sought a restaurant that could cater to my gluten-free needs. Little did we know, we were about to stumble into a brunch utopia.
From the first bite to the last, it was nothing short of spectacular. I indulged in their cauliflower burger served on a gluten-free bun, which was a delightful symphony of flavors and textures. Patrick, always the breakfast connoisseur, went for scrambled eggs paired with maple-blueberry sausage and home fries—each bite a savory revelation! The way the sweetness of the sausage danced with the saltiness of the eggs was, as Patrick declared, “to die for.”
But what truly set the Hard Bean Brunch Company apart was the people. Our server, Lee, brought a warmth and professionalism to the table that left a lasting impression. And oh, the atmosphere—imagine a space where every corner radiates good vibes, inviting you to linger just a little longer.
We loved it so much that we returned the next morning for breakfast before boarding our ship. And guess what? It was another home run! The presentation of the dishes was impeccable, every plate a work of culinary art. Alma, our server this time, had a genuine knack for making the experience special—her enthusiasm was infectious.
Would I recommend the Hard Bean Brunch Company? Absolutely. Read moreCame in for the first time tonight. Let's just start things off by saying that brunch for dinner is THE way to go.
I had the Banana Brûle French Toast with a side of 4 bacon strips and some water.
The water was fine, nothing fancy, just tap water which is my preference anyway. It was refilled often which was great. It's water, you can't go too wrong with water.
The French Toast was the star of the show. I think it was 3 pieces of French toast topped with caramel and chocolate sauce, what seemed like a whole banana (not complaining) that was sliced in halves and then forced to form a cream brûle "crust" or brittle. Holy delicious. And then it was adorned with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Now, I will start by saying I didn't think this scoop was big enough, BUT by the time I got into things and it melted down a bit it was clear that it was the right amount. It was delicious.
The bacon is the only problem I had with my meal, and it wasn't even a big deal. The bacon was just greasier than I would have wanted. My fingers had a film of grease on them after handling a piece. But it was bacon, and it tasted like bacon, so how wrong could it really be.
I sat out on the patio facing the mountains. It was a great view and there were a ton of people you could people-watch in both directions. It would be great for a couple, a group of friends, or even just by yourself.
I absolutely would recommend...
