The Yard Cafe — Restaurant in Vancouver

Went to the yard cafe/bar tonight to watch some football. They were very accommodating in changing their one of two televisions onto what I wanted to watch (nfl football). The other tv was on the other side of the bar. Appetizers I ordered were good and well priced. Drinks were standard bar prices as I was drinking highballs. Their beer prices were very good as my friends were taking advantage of those. I stayed later than expected because we were told there was a trivia night and my friends and I fancy trivia. We played 3 rounds which extended our night probably by an extra hour or more. So after settling up I ordered a couple more drinks. During the rounds of trivia the DJ read the correct answers out at the end of every round (3 rounds). My friends and I counting our answers correctly in our heads realized at the end of many rounds we were in the top 3 correct. After two rounds of not being rewarded we figured maybe we were miscounting... or there was a mistake.... finally the last round came and we only had one wrong. We knew we had to be in the top 3 correct. Enticed to stay by our server because there was a chance to get money off our tab we continued to play. By none the less it seemed the DJ either forgot our answer sheet again or just favoured the regulars at the bar. We noticed every round the DJ marked the scores in red pen on each sheet so he could keep track. At the end of the trivia my friend asked for our last sheet back. The sheet we had the most correct all night. No markings on it. We had the most correct in the round by was not accounted for. Most likely not accounted for on any of the rounds. We felt cheated and my friends thought there had to be a mistake. I was just annoyed and wanted to leave. After the game I go to settle up the couple of drinks I had during the game. After already settling up once prior. There was 5 drinks on my bill... I said to the server this can’t be I just settled up before the game started. She insisted she only rings in drinks I bought. I reminded her I just settled up with the owner. But she again insisted I ordered FIVE drinks. I begun to second guess myself and asked my friends how many drinks I ordered. Even they said two, maybe 3 max if they had missed one some how. So not only were my friends and I scammed out of a suppose to be fun game of trivia. I was over charged multiple drinks. Only give two stars because service appeared to be good. Drinks were properly priced and appies were good and well priced. I’m just hoping they made an awful mistake and weren’t...

A cozy and neighboring pub with nice music, delightful menu and affordable prices, but, unfortunately, the bartender happens to be a very rude lady, especially mistrustful of those customers that are not regulars, mainly if they are not Caucasians. In my own experience—a Mexican guy but Canadian citizen as well,—she kept an eye on me since my very arrival, and during my short visit, she didn’t give me a break, counting the two or three beers that I ordered meanwhile, and warning me every single time that she would stop serving me at any time, if she decided to do so. I was confused about her rude attitude, since I was perfectly aware of my own condition. At the end, she refused to serve me another drink, and worse of all, she took away my glass from my own hand. The best proof of my awareness is that I didn’t reply to her with screams and shouts, as she might deserve it fairly. Instead, I just walked out, but of course, swearing to God quietly that I would never come back there again, ever! I truly think that the owners and managers must keep an eye on her, since her bad attitude towards me could be a patron of racism and discrimination held by herself, behavior that is against the main values of the...

The lady server at Wednesday evening was the worst server we have ever encountered. Right after she told us to grab a seat she said

“don’t get too comfortable, I haven’t checked your IDs yet”

We had to flag her down 30 minutes after we sat down to order food even though there were only 5 people in the whole bar.

They were gonna have karaoke night n clearly wanted us to leave. Told my gf they didn’t have orange juice n gave her some sugary orange mix but forgot the second round and finally gave us orange juice screw driver.

$14 for single vodka screwdriver?

She walked away every time middle of us trying to order more food.

Bitched about having to make food,

“The hot dog takes 12 steps to make”

she announced to the people at bar, pointing our table cause we ordered food from the menu YOU gave us.

charged me more for wine even though we discussed about Wednesday price, she quoted me that higher too btw. Maybe update your website saying $6

Thought we will have a nice bar to go to in our neighbourhood……

We were there for 2 hours while she checked on us 1 time and we had to call her 2 other times cause we really had to.

Found another review going back one year probably mentioning her, clearly...
