What a gem of a restaurant! We were looking up soup noodle places for dinner, but most places were closing around 9-9:30 p.m. in this area on a Friday night. We saw a bunch of highly reviewed and rated noodle places on this strip, but was drawn to this due to the high rating (4.9). So glad we came, place wasn’t busy, and food came to the table fast, and the food was 100% worth the high rating. We ordered: Spring rolls (3 pcs): These were SO CRUNCHY, piping hot and super fresh. The flavours were good, but even better, the crunch level and hot temperature and the sweet chili sauce accompanied with it was a 5/5. Lanzhou Beef Noodle: Soup was so clear but there was so much depth and flavour. You don’t feel heavy after having this. Beef was extremely tender and soft. If you love cilantro, green onions and a nice hearty, clear bowl of soup noodles, this is the top choice. Also comes with a dollop of spicy chilli oil added in (ask for it on the side instead if you can’t take heat). Noodles were al dente; love the slight chew. 5/5 Spicy Beef Noodle: Similar to the Lanzhou Beef noodle broth, but with a punch of spice. No cilantro nor green onions in this one, but comes with bokchoy instead. 5/5 Definitely excited to come back to try their Dandan mein, fried chicken and meat dumplings in spicy sauce. Extra bonus: They have a cute arcade machine in the corner while you wait for your food. You can tell the owner takes pride in his food, and puts his heart and soul into his craft in the broth and noodles. Tastes home made but with an elevated kick. 10/10 would recommend.

I walked by T-Bay yesterday on the way to Dollarama and decided to come back after reading the good reviews. I ordered the Lanzhou beef noodle soup -- the first time I'd had it outside of an instant noodle package, and it was incredible. Take one sip of the broth to appreciate its the herbaceousness, and then another, with care to incorporate a smidge of the unctuous, aromatic chili oil. A third sip, including some of the green onion and cilantro, made cilantro bearable to even a philistine such as I. What made the dish really start to belt its high notes was when I added a splash of black vinegar to balance out the salty broth, making the slightly bitter aroma of the Chinese herbs mellow into the background. And there it was in front of me -- a delightfully balanced cauldron of soupy goodness: salty, sour, bitter, spicy, and herbal -- rich chili oil cut by a swath of brash and supple vinegar, washing over an undertow of light yet assertive broth. The dish is served at the right temperature to start immediately stuffing into your mouth. And don't neglect the beef slices, which are are something to cherish and write home about -- tender and seasoned, but keeping their integrity, with ripples of tendon running throughout providing a soft, satisfying chew. The noodles were expertly made and cooked to al dente. As they absorbed the soup, they took on the complexity of the dish. It was a generous portion, but it felt entirely too disrespectful to not finish what I'd started -- which I did so, gladly.

We stopped by T Bay Bistro on Granville for lunch and had a genuinely warm and satisfying experience. This is a cozy, family-run restaurant where each family member plays a role in making you feel welcome. The menu was already on the table when we arrived. The mother kindly took our order, the father brought napkins and chopsticks, and their son helped us with payment at the front counter. There’s a relaxed, self-serve style here that works well. If you need hot or cold water, condiments, or extra cutlery, just help yourself at the station. I ordered the Lanzhou beef noodle soup, and it did not disappoint. You can choose your spice level—I went with no spice to enjoy the full flavor of the broth. The soup was incredibly rich and well-balanced, the beef was tender, and the noodles were perfectly cooked with a satisfying, bouncy texture. We also tried the vegetarian egg rolls, which were okay, and the meat dumplings in spicy sauce, which had a beautifully balanced heat and depth of flavor. All in all, a great lunch—authentic, filling, and very affordable. Payment is made at the counter, where they accept cash or debit. T Bay Bistro is a true hidden gem for anyone craving a flavorful bowl of noodles in a friendly, family-style setting.

Now, let's talk about the food – it was nothing short of amazing! Each dish showcased the rich flavors and authentic taste of Tianjin cuisine. The attention to detail in preparation was evident, and the presentation was as impressive as the taste.

I particularly recommend trying [mention any standout dish you enjoyed], as it was a true highlight of the meal. The freshness of the ingredients and the skillful cooking techniques made it a standout culinary masterpiece.

The service was prompt, and the staff was courteous throughout the evening, adding to the overall positive impression. T-Bay Bistro has undoubtedly earned its reputation for delivering an exceptional dining experience.

In conclusion, if you're looking for an authentic taste of Tianjin cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere with top-notch service, T-Bay Bistro is the place to be. My experience was nothing short of five stars, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow food enthusiasts.
