Edit: WRT the owner’s response I found it to be pretty defensive. There is an ego at play here saying “if you don’t like don’t buy” is a pretty rhetorical point to make since already indicated I likely won’t be back the next time I’m craving the familiar taste of Donair. I also did not say the basmati rice was bad, I was simply just saying that it wasn’t what the palate was anticipating. An appropriate response would have been “thanks for your feedback, and we will take it into consideration as we continue to receive feedback on our service offerings” without the need to commit to anything since I’m just one customer and not the owner who gets to exercise their own prerogative. Some more growth and maturity is required on the part of the ownership. —- The visit (original post): Service was polite. Food was a bit disappointing. The rice used was basmati and it had the fragrance of indian food, which while nice was a departure from what this food should taste like. All platters are $17.95 and most other places charging this price would follow your container to the brim. I found the portions here quite stingyyz would also help to have feta on the salad and turnips available. I enjoyed my food well enough. The sauce was also great (“as expected”) but something about it just felt really underwhelming for the money I am parting with. Probably won’t be back the next time I’m craving donair. They also have violated the single use plastics ban that has been around for over a year (since December 2023), in terms of the cutlery. The take out containers are made from compostable corn starch, however, these were also banned starting July 2024. A quick chat with the BC OPI on this file confirmed that indeed these packagings and cutlery are no longer permitted in BC as of the dates stated. The owner’s response is that they are approved all over Canada. Apparently, owner you don’t understand that while federal laws supersede, more specific provincial laws can also apply if they carry more nuance. The federal statutes set a baseline. Ownership Needs a lesson in Canada’s constitutional fabric and history. All violations can be reported any time to plastics@gov.bc.ca with the name and address of the business and photos to substantiate the claim.

I had the pleasure of dining at [Restaurant Donair spot ] recently, and I cannot recommend it enough! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a modern yet cozy design that made us feel right at home. The service was impeccable; the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overbearing. Our server was able to provide great recommendations based on our tastes, and it was clear that they were passionate about the food. Speaking of the food—wow! Every dish was bursting with flavor and expertly presented. The [chicken wrap] was particularly outstanding, with perfectly balanced flavors that danced on was a close second, offering a rich and satisfying experience. The portions were generous, and every bite was worth savoring.

Disgusting place!!! Avoid!!! We’ve been to this place 4 times, all 4 times there was no chicken available. I’ve been coming to this location for more than 5+ years and always had a pleasant experience. Since the owner changed a few months ago, this place has become a disgusting place, that is unsafe for women and children. The way that employees treat clients is unbelievable, an animal is treated more humanely. The new owner is very obnoxious, very aggressive, and very racist! Please see for yourself in the picture below, the big man in the grey sweater is the man who calls himself the new owner. Avoid!!!

I had high hopes for Donair Spot, but sadly, it failed to meet even the lowest of expectations. My experience was nothing short of a culinary catastrophe.

First off, let's talk about the ambiance - or lack thereof. The place resembled a dingy back alley joint rather than a reputable eatery. The decor was outdated and uninviting, making me question the cleanliness of the entire establishment.

Now, onto the food. I ordered their signature donair, expecting a burst of flavor and authenticity. Instead, what I got was a soggy mess of mystery meat drenched in some questionable sauce. The meat tasted like it had been sitting out for hours, and the toppings were sparse and uninspired. It was a sad excuse for a donair.

To add insult to injury, the service was abysmal. The staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than attending to customers. My order took forever to arrive, and when it did, it was cold and unappetizing.

Overall, my experience at Donair Spot was a total letdown. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Save yourself the disappointment and steer clear of this culinary...

Went here for lunch at work a couple months ago, FYI, I'll start with the good, but this is going to be a brutally honest review. Customer service was top notch, but the food was barely edible. Microwaved falafel on my platter had hockey puck like consistency. My friend had a lamb pita that was dry and flavourless, I take his word for it based on my meal. My other friend asked "why is there ketchup on my falafel platter?!" to which I replied: I don't believe its ketchup but it is pretty much pasta sauce. Everything was doused in nasty sauce! The salad would have been good if it didn't have too much dried oregano in it. The pita bread was stale, hard and chewy. I want this owner to re-evaluate if he would like to stay in the food industry, or overhaul the menu. 100% kitchen...
