One of a kind, newly opened. No space inside to sit, more of a takeaway joint, but they have a nice small section outside with 4 chairs. If the weather's good you can enjoy it fresh and hot. Would recommend driving here and having in your car, else by the time it gets to you through delivery, it'll be all soggy and weird. Seems to be an issue with many reviews, mostly considering they use paper boxes. Kudos for giving Marpole a fresh choice apart from Asian and fast food!

Based on the mix and match concept like many other Asian or Mexican places, you choose your type of pasta, then the recipe (sauce and other ingredients), and add extras. The staff is really friendly and I felt they tried to go over and above. Full kudos there. They also have a nice selection of drinks and in desserts they have panacotta and tiramisu. Paper boxes and wooden spoons are amazing, thanks for the eco-friendly steps.

Personally, I prefer a wet pasta with extra sauce and this seemed way too dry for me. Hardness was ok as I like al dente. Although I think charging 0.50 for garlic powder and chilli flakes is nickel and diming as it's free at all places The prices are on the higher side already, considering there's no service or other downtime in plates cutlery etc. For the price, the quantity is also on the lower side. After finishing it, I was still hungry and had to grab some slices from Freshslice next door.

Overall 3 stars solely because of the warm staff and small business with a unique concept. Definitely has the potential to improve based...

--- Update Aug 9th ---

Public service announcement to check if the additions that you ordered are actually in your order as missing incorrect additions have happened to us multiple times.

For a couple times now, the chicken we ordered weren't in our order. We understand that mistakes happen but if you pay extra for it, it should be made sure that it's added.

We also had instances where the extra cheese that we ordered was added to the wrong order which was pretty disappointing.

--- End Update ---

Solo Pasta is a breath of fresh air in a neighbourhood filled with Asian restaurants, pizza places and dessert cafes as it's now complemented by a pasta restaurant.

The place is small but it gets the job done. The pasta dish itself is tasty. You get to choose from a variety of pastas, sauces and sides. You can also select from pre-defined sauce combinations if you're feeling indecisive. The pasta is cooked al dente and you can watch them make the dish in front of you given there's no one else waiting to order.

The prices are incredibly reasonable compared to other pasta places that I've been to. I don't usually like Italian restaurants as the pasta dishes are always expensive compared to the portion.

I ordered the same dish, spaghetti with pesto and chicken strips a few times. I found the pesto sauce to be oily to the point that it becomes runny. Maybe that's how pesto sauces are supposed to be. The amount of cheese also changed between the different orders. It could depend on who's...

Solo Pasta: A Hidden Gem Serving Up Fresh, Homemade Pasta Delights

★★★★★

Stumbling upon Solo Pasta on Granville Street was a delightful surprise. The first thing that caught my attention was the sight of their pasta being made fresh in-store. This meant that I was in for a truly authentic and homemade pasta experience, and I wasn't disappointed.

I opted for their fettuccine with their special tomato sauce, and it was an absolute masterpiece. The pasta was cooked to perfection, tender yet with a slight bite, and the sauce was rich, flavorful, and bursting with fresh ingredients. The portion size was incredibly generous – I was full after finishing my meal, but it could easily have satisfied two people.

Their menu boasts a variety of other tempting sauces, and I'm already planning my next visit to sample them. In a neighborhood filled with the usual pizza and fast food options, Solo Pasta is a true gem.

In terms of the pasta itself, I can confidently say that it's the best I've had in the city. The taste was exquisite, the freshness was undeniable, and the aroma of Parmesan was simply irresistible.

The prices were surprisingly reasonable, considering the quality and quantity of food. The service was also friendly and attentive, adding to the overall enjoyable experience.

If you're looking for an authentic Italian dining experience with fresh, homemade pasta, look no further than Solo Pasta. It's a hidden gem that deserves to be discovered...

First time trying out this restaurant. I ordered pesto with linguine. For the price the servings are quite small. The restaurant has no indoor seating that is comfortable to eat at. They have a table right by the front door and two chairs that were on top of a bunch of mats making them virtually impossible to sit at and eat. They do have some outdoor tables for summer time dining. After receiving food, I ate it in the car as it was too cold to eat outside. I decided to save a bit for lunch so I finished the rest of my pasta today and when I got to the last bite I bit down on something very hard… I quickly took it out of my mouth and it was a sharp jagged piece of plastic. Thankfully, I did not swallow this piece of sharp plastic or it might have been a trip to the emergency room. (Excuse my nails in the photo) I decided I wouldn’t be coming back to this place after the first few bites and I wasn’t planning on leaving a review but with the huge piece of plastic in my dinner that I could have choked on I feel that this review needed to be written.
