5 stars for the subs alone. I had the BBQ chicken sub.

(Dine-in) — the bread comes out hot, doesn’t crackle everywhere, isn’t stale or old crunchy, is soft throughout and is easy to squish between your fingers as you take a bite yet holds firmly without the contents sliding out of the sub, and isn’t dry. The only thing you should worry about is the meat being so juicy that it might drip onto your shirt or pants. That being said, I eat mine above the other half of the sub so the juices add onto my other half of the meal.

The chicken is juicy and tender throughout. There aren’t any hard overcooked bits. The skin is also left on for extra flavour.

The pickled carrots and radish aren’t overpoweringly acidic nor sweet nor salty. It’s there to add freshness and crunch, as is the fresh cucumber slices and cilantro leaves. No slimy or mushy texture nor any brown bruise spots. Everything is fresh.

The proportions are perfect—the savoury aspect of the sauce and meat is balanced with the vegetables, and you feel nutritionally adequate as well. It isn’t heavy and the sub alone is filling. I found it seasoned well, but if you find it lacking, there are bottles of hot sauce (I think sriracha) and hoisin sauce that you can add as you see fit.

At the moment, I can’t find any faults with the sandwich. It’s well worth it at ~$8...

This is by far my favorite lunch spot in the Granville / Robson area. I have to say their pho is probably weakest menu item - not a lot of meat and sometimes soggy noodles. But everything else is fan-freaking-tastic.

My favorite is their wonton soup. They focus on the soup instead of the wonton (which is still good). The broth is sweet with flavors of pork and herbs, and they drizzle a generous amount of sesame oil on top. The aroma of the soup is amazing - one bowl will fill and entire room with that amazing sweet and savory flavor. Every time I go, I always ask for extra soup. Pair it with chili flakes, and it's the best lunch you can have on a winter day.

Also great subs. They put their own mix of sirracha mayo in the sub. It's tangy and spicy and creamy. Ugh, just thinking about it makes me salivate so much, and I just had lunch! Their rice / vermicelli lunch special packs great flavors and great value. Their fried spring rolls is one of the best around. I can just go on and on about these guys, since I had almost everything on their menu!

Bonus: the guy that usually mans the register is really cute =P haven't seen him lately though. Hopefully he...

Ive eaten Vietnamese subs for years in the Vancouver and San Jose California area and thought I've had mostly good and a few great subs along the way. So, when I ordered Viet Sub's "Special sub", I was pleasantly surprised that it actually tasted especial--because it was delicious!!! Id say it was one of, if not the best Viet sub I've had as far as I can remember in my 20+ years of Viet sub eating experience. The bread was perfectly warm and crusty without being too hard and dry. The fillings, especially the pork, tasted and looked fresh and juicy. I think the pork and bread set it apart from the others. Just delicious. It's hard to fault it...maybe a little too small?

When I'm in the area, whether or not I'm craving for that sub, I'll definitely want to return to have a taste of it again.

The place was just a little tight so it may be a bit hard to eat there during busy periods tho I've never really been there during a busy period.

Nice friendly service. No upselling, just straightforward.

I rarely give 5 stars but based on my experience, I can't give Viet sub anything lower than a 4.5, so 5...

Viet Sub is absolutely a hole-in-the-wall, but don’t let the modest space fool you—the food is fantastic. The spring roll was the standout for me—crispy, flavorful, and something I’ll definitely be coming back for. The grilled chicken was perfectly seasoned, and my child genuinely enjoyed everything that came out of the kitchen, which says a lot! This place isn’t meant for big groups—seating is tight and limited—but it’s ideal if you’re looking for a quick, affordable, and delicious bite. Friendly service, lightning-fast kitchen, and consistently flavorful food make this a spot worth seeking out. Highly recommended for casual solo diners, couples, or anyone craving authentic Vietnamese food on the go.

Wow, I can't believe it took me this long to finally come here for a banh mi. I left Vancouver for two years and just recently came back for a few months and had a craving for a banh mi and this place was a few blocks from where I'm currently staying and I must say, I'm glad I came here. It's a tiny little spot, the service was super friendly and very fast! I ended up getting the grilled lemongrass chicken and it was so delicious. The bread was soft and warm (even after I walked 6 blocks to get back to where I'm staying before eating it). The ingredients tasted fresh and the flavors were on point and for only $9.66 after tax! I'll definitely be back here again to try more items from their menu.
