Our New Favourite Pizza Spot!
My wife and I have just discovered our new favourite pizza place! We’ve walked past this location countless times on our way to and from the library, but never during mealtime—until now. This time, we happened to pass by just before the dinner rush and decided to stop in.
At first, we were a little surprised to hear Persian music playing, but it created a pleasant and unique atmosphere. The place was spotlessly clean and very inviting. A lovely couple—who we assume are the owners—were running the place. They were both incredibly friendly and came across as sincere, hardworking, and genuinely caring people.
With a variety of pizzas we hadn’t seen before, we asked for a recommendation and went with the “Colonel,” which offers a mix of four different pizzas (8 slices total). While we waited, they brought out a large glass bottle of cold water, and before we knew it, the pizza had arrived.
From the first bite, we were hooked. This is now our go-to pizza spot. Each slice was a delight—distinct in flavour, with a perfectly baked crust and what tasted like homemade sauce. The ingredients were clearly fresh and generously applied. We couldn’t finish it all, so we took the rest home—and I can confirm, if you're a fan of cold pizza like I am, this one truly delivers!
Before leaving, we thanked the couple and told them it was, hands down, the best pizza we’ve ever had. They thanked us warmly, blessed us, and wished us a wonderful evening. The customer service was exceptional, and the value for the quality was outstanding.
If you’re in Vancouver—whether you live here or are just visiting—do yourself a favour and stop in. You won’t regret it. They also serve a variety of other dishes besides pizza. Personally, I can’t wait to return one morning to try their breakfast pizza... it sounds delicious!

The food quality was underwhelming. The “pepperoni pizza” was a joke—more like a mini pizza ($9.11) with a hint of pepperoni scattered on top.
The Bandari sandwich was a letdown: overly soggy and unbearably spicy, as if someone had accidentally emptied an entire pepper shaker into it.
The recent rebranding from “Toranj Food” to “911 Pizza” feels more like a cost-cutting measure than an improvement. They’ve shifted from a traditional Iranian restaurant (which relies on fresh, perishable ingredients) to a fast-food approach where everything seems refrigerated or frozen.
To top it off, I visited because of an Instagram promotion: buy something (I ordered the Bandari sandwich) and get a “free” $9.11 pizza. Don’t fall for these gimmicks—it’s all hype with zero substance. Definitely not a place I’d revisit.
🆕 UPDATE after business owner response:
I’m sorry to see that you’ve chosen to take my honest feedback as an attack rather than viewing it as an opportunity to improve. To clarify, I am not a business owner, nor do I have any involvement in the Vancouver food industry. I wrote this review purely as a typical customer sharing my experience.
Regarding your claim about the pizza: we explicitly ordered pepperoni pizza, but were given a cheese pizza instead. This only reinforces my initial point about the quality and attention to detail.
It’s disheartening to see a business respond with accusations of jealousy rather than addressing customer concerns constructively. As a paying customer, I believe feedback—whether positive or negative—should be taken as an opportunity to grow, not as a personal attack.
I hope you’ll reconsider how you engage with feedback in the future…
🆕 Update: I am happy to see that you have revised your initial response entirely and glad to see a 180 change of tone. That’s a sign of improvement, at least on the language and...
Read moreI visited Toranj Food on November 25th, excited to try their unique lamb brain and beef tongue sandwich. The price seemed reasonable at $21.99 before tax, and I willingly added a 15% tip. However, my experience quickly turned sour.
Initially, I requested the sandwich to be cut in half, a simple ask that was overlooked. The wait for my order was unexpectedly long, and it was disheartening to see others who arrived later receive their food first. When I inquired about the delay, the response from the staff was dismissive, attributing the delay to the kitchen without any apology.
The sandwich, when it finally arrived, was not cut in half as requested. The explanation that it was "cut from inside" was baffling, especially since it was wrapped in paper. It took further insistence to have it properly cut.
The biggest letdown was the sandwich itself. Halfway through, I discovered an absence of the promised lamb brain, with only faint traces of it for flavor. This was not what I expected, especially for the price.
Adding to my frustration, a review of Google reviews revealed that this issue with the sandwich lacking lamb brain is not uncommon among customers. This consistent problem suggests a pattern of misleading menu descriptions.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Toranj Food. The service was lacking, and the food did not live up to its description. Disappointed, I doubt I'll return or try...
