Original Review: Ordered via Skip. Pretty Seamless. However I asked for feta on the side for my salad in the Special Instructions and it came spattered all over and in between the salad. A little more care could have been taken to fulfil that request. Even if the salad was prebuilt, my expectation would be that they’d go dig in the bag of leaves in the fridge and “build” a new one without the feta. Otherwise whats the point of having a Special Instructions section and giving customers the perception they could modify!? If I knew that I couldn’t ex the feta I would not have ordered the salad and saved the $$ cuz the salad pretty much ended up in the trash. Sighhhhh.

ADD ON after California Sandwiches Owner response below: “You ordered an arugula salad that doesn’t come with feta.” I have now added a photo of the image presented on Skip. I would not ask for feta on the side if the pic did not show feta sprinkled on the salad. (Minus 1 star)

“Furthermore, there are only 8 mini cubes of feta...” The feta was crumbled...like feta. A hundred little pieces sprinkled all in between the salad and stuck to the pine nuts. Do you not know what your salads look like? I wish I took pictures. (Minus 1 star)

The salad that I ordered that doesn’t come with feta...even though the pic shows it...that I requested on the side...that you wrote a note to me about...but really didn’t...ended up coming WITH 100 pieces of sprinkled feta...but not on the side, but rather mixed in to the salad...I should have removed on my own. You know. For my safety. (Minus 1 star)

Thank goodness I don’t have a life threatening allergy. But rather, wife is pregnant and did not know if she could stomach the feta. Hence the request for it on the side. She was not able to stomach the feta.

Please stop trying to finesse review readers with lie after lie after lie.

I would have made peace with the fact you did not see the Special Instruction and simply apologized for the gap and moved on with my life. But given the fact you made the decision to lie multiple times, thought it would be good for the review readers to know the truth.

Acknowledge your failure and strive to do better next time. Your customers would respect that more.

I’ve been going to California Sandwiches for decades since the original on Claremont . At once it’s now family franchised I’ve found they do vary in quality and quantity from location to location. I happened to be in Woodbridge and decided to go for a chicken sandwich which is my go to. This parking lot is highly problematic since there’s tons of hot heads cutting you off and honking and parking anywhere they want. So beware the crazies! The store is clean and ordering is easy and relatively fast. I saw the new rice balls so ordered 3 for $6.50 plus tax. But they are medium large and were great hot and covered in the provided sauce. Just melted cheese. Buono ! I ordered a hot chicken and man was it measly for $14.99! Just look at my photo compared to the ones on google by them …night and day . These are buns with a bit of chicken plus sauce/peppers. But they even charge for the hot peppers… that’s a new one on me! They say they’ve been doing that for years! Don’t think so! 45 cents for hot peppers where you have the option of sweet medium or hot seems a bit Chinzy to me ! Nickel and diming people . Like ordering fries then charging for ketchup! Unfortunately a lot of food places around Woodbridge are pricey and modest portions so this place is no exception! I’ll start this off by saying I don’t have anything bad to say about their sandwiches. The reason why I’m writing your location a 1 star review is because of your employee’s rude customer service. My family and I were at this location yesterday (April 23rd 2025) and ordered 3 sandwiches and a side of fries. When the food arrived, we noticed the fries were incredibly oily and honestly not edible. We didn’t even eat one fry, and took it back to the girls at the counter to return it. She took the fries back, and said she couldn’t refund my card so she gave the refund in cash. She handed us a $5 bill for the fries, not refunding us the HST we had paid. When we brought this to her attention, she got angry, slammed the till, and said “if you order fries you have to eat it”. She then degradingly raised her voice and said “go enjoy your food”.

Please inform your employees that at any restaurant, at any point if the food has a quality issue, you MUST take it back and refund the customer. We don’t HAVE to eat the fries if they are terrible quality, especially when we hadn’t even eaten one. Also, if we hadn’t paid the HST for our food, would we have gotten it in the first place? No. So if you’re refunding, you must refund the full amount.

Safe to say we won’t be returning to this location. Embarrassing staff and...
