Noodlebox — Restaurant in Vaughan

I came here for a 2nd time because I had such a good first experience. Perhaps it was because the owner was the one who took care of my order the first time, but I got the complete opposite experience the 2nd time, to the point I'm unsure if I even care to come back.

I have many food intolerances, mainly to certain vegetables, so I inquired about which vegetables were in the Teriyaki bowl. I was told that there was broccoli, cabbage red cabbage, carrots and bok choi. It didn't have things like peppers or red onion, so I was comfortable enough to order it and I ordered it with rice. This, to the employee, meant rice noodles, and not normal rice, despite never saying "noodle". She just assumed and cooked the whole dish with noodles. She even acknowledged "oh i thought you meant rice noodles". I personally feel like if i wanted to differentiate between "rice" and "rice noodle" that I wouldve said so. I asked for it to be remade as it wasn't what I asked for. It came back a 2nd time, this time not served with utensils. It loaded with red peppers, which badly affect my digestion. I sat there for 10 mins contemplating to once again make a fuss as I wasn't properly informed of the ingredients, or to just peacefully walk out and never give them my business again.

At this point, I had already waited 30 minutes to eat, and was close to running late for a meeting. The owner was going to give me my refund, but not before he insisted on cooking me yet another meal and making me wait despite telling him THREE SEPARATE TIMES that I need to leave. I just wanted my refund and he did not give it to me until the cook was packing the third dish. If he TRULY cared about customer satisfaction, he would've just acknowledged my refund and let me be on my way, but I spent an extra 10 mins again waiting for another dish and ran late because I couldn't get my money until the food was finished being cooked. I didn't even eat the 3rd meal, it was completely wasted like the first two. I had no time to eat as I was late to where I needed to be.

EDIT: The store responded to my review by saying they cooked me the food and refunded me, and completely ignored the fact my review said I told them repeatedly I needed to leave and they refused to give me my refund until the food, I no longer had time to wait to be cooked for a 3rd time, was finished. This is pure ignorance at its finest and I will NOT ever return to...

I ordered 7 dishes to go and they were good. All of my party members stated that the food portions were large and many took some home. The flavours were great.

The downsides: The spice levels even for medium was very very mild one of the 7 meals was specifically ordered as gluten free. Unfortunately, the cooks were handling the boxes by holding on to the rim and putting fingers inside the box when moving them. That is not a big issue, but it became an issue after the cooks handled crispy breaded tofu and quick washed their hands and went back to handling the boxes.

The cooks need to know that they have to wash their hand thoroughly as gluten stays on the hands and is quickly transferred. When I addressed it with them, they seemed understanding about my concern but they didn't realize the importance of gluten-free. I don't think they realize the consequences of a person who has celiac disease investing gluten.

I would try them again, but I would not call their preparation technique gluten-free. Their ingredients are gluten-free but the cross contamination...

Delicious food with friendly service! I found this place via Uber eats because I was nearby and wanted to try something new. They had a BOGO special, but the uber eats prices are higher than in store (see menu picture). Still, I wanted to bring home a second portion for my partner to try too so I ordered for pickup. My bowl was made fresh in front of me, with a lot of customization options. I ordered the Spicy Peanut bowl with no protein with a mild/medium spice level. It was very saucy (perfect amount covering all toppings) and had lots of flavour. It was the perfect level of spice for me. There are options to add protein, made your bowl gluten free or dairy free and vegan too. Both staff were very friendly and even came to ask how it was once I started eating.
