They checked our vaccines and information and was seated promptly.
An information sheet was provided to us to fill the contact tracing info and on the side was the box for ordering. The menu was provided and each item had its description and an item number next to it.
As one of us is korean, we filled out the order form with the item number and brief korean description. We had also asked for the sauce on the side for the sweet and sour pork. (Tangsooyuk)
The first item arrived, (tangsooyuk) and they had poured the sauce on it and when we mentioned it, she said that they had forgotten, which is understandable.
Our second item, (seafood jajangmyun) arrived. Only we were not able to find any seafood in it, hence, we asked again. They brought our order sheet, and said we only wrote noodles. We mentioned that we had written clearly the item numbers on the sheet, and she rudely replied that they never read the item number and implied it was our fault.
The food tasted great, both the noodles and the sweet and sour pork. The sweet and sour pork did not have an overwhelming amount of batter like other restaurants and the sauce for the noodles was nicely balanced.
As we were finishing our meal, we could hear the waitress loudly complaining about us to other co-workers that we were being ridiculous about the unsatisfactory experience we had and she continued on to make other rude remarks until we called for service as we were sitting there listening to her bad mouth us clearly.
As she also heard us call, she, again, loudly yells out, "oh, is those chinese people again"
The manager came over and at this point we were pretty angry, and told her that we can hear every word your co-worker is talking about us, and the racist remarks she made about us in korean thinking that we don't understand it. The manager explained that her co-worker was just trying to explain the situation to one another, which maybe if we didn't hear every single word we would accept her explanation. Needless to say, it was not handled well, and one of the rare occasions in Toronto which is one of the most diversified city culturally that we have experienced someone racially profiling us and making racial remarks against us.
It's too bad that this restaurant serves good authentic korean food, but the level of integrity of it's staff...
Read moreBe aware! They reuse side dishes. I found a smaller and bitten pickled radish on my food. It was half smaller and clearly bitten by someelse before. It looked obviously someone took a bite and put it there.
I addressed my concern to a server. And she was like, "No, you cannot say like that. we don't reuse side dishes. " I talked to her, "Compare with other picked radishes. They are all bigger and cut sharp. " The server said, "Sometimes, it looks like that even after slicing with a knife."
And then, she started talking back about me with her coworker right in front of me. The way she talked was like I was the problem.
I was so upset with this lady's attitude and said, "If you are gonna talk about me, go somewhere else so that I can not hear you." She looked kinda embarrassed that other customers were listening the converstaion, and then sorry to me and asked me to continue eating.
Who can enjoy food in this situation. So I got take out containers for my food and headed to pay. And the cashier was like, the sprite you ordered is on the house. I asked her multiple times include the sprite to the bill and she refused.
Seriously, what are they thinking? If they give me a free can of sprite, I should be happy and leave?
Please be ware of this place. They probably reuse side dishes to save money.
Also, you will see the worst service if you address problems of them.
I will report this place...
Read moreTypical Korean-Chinese fusion restaurant with a variety of selections. Decent service and food. But like most other Korean restaurants in Toronto, the chef tends to be circulated, and the food quality is the subject to change depending on your timing. And I liked what I ordered for my takeout last night for the most part, so it seems like they have a solid chef in the house at the moment. I ordered wonton soup, hot and sour soup, rice with black bean sauce, and sweet and sour pork (s). Wonton soup was a failure as it was very salty, and the dumplings had weird stale fish smell. The hot and sour soup, on the other hand, was pretty good. The sweet and sour pork was also decent, but the sauce looked pretty pathetic with very few vegetables (no fruits) in it. The black bean sauce rice was also a solid choice. Their portion size was huge, especially the sweet and sour pork. Will definitely return until their chef changes again. Also, if you order more than $50 worth of food, you get 10% off...
