I hadn't ordered from Jim's in years, and I know some of my friends really like Jim's.
Luckily I got a gift certificate for my birthday for Jim's from a friend and gave them a try.
Their website doesn't let you order online again as of a month ago, and therefore ordered delivery by phone. However, I was told it would be a minimum of a 90 minute wait (given the help wanted signs on their door, I assume they are short on drivers), and from memory I recall their delivery times end up being longer than they say. So I waited for another day.
The next time I called there was a delivery time of 90 minutes again, and therefore opted to do the 45 minute pickup. Jim's is on the outskirts of town so its location isn't the most ideal for pickup, but did so anyway.
I ordered 2 small 3-topping create your own pizzas which came to 33 bucks after tax. That's a couple bucks higher for pickup from a local gourmet pizzeria on average, but nothing too crazy.
Staff was very friendly. I like the unique atmosphere and location.
The pizza tasted fine for local gourmet pizza.
I should note they sell ice cream and a lot of other items. It's definitely old school that way.
They also have a wide range of unique toppings that almost nobody else in town offers. Jealous Pizza and Lozza Mozza are the most comparable in range.
Although I likely won't order from here again anytime soon, I can see why a lot of people like Jim's Pizza. It has a lot to offer, and if you've got the money to throw around, it makes a great addition to any gathering or the perfect stop after you've finished participating in Funtastic...
Read moreI order five or six times a month, same pizza every time and always order a light bake. 60% of the time they get it right, other times it's either an over baked pizza all together, or like today my pizza was maybe half cooked, as if they expected me to put it in the oven myself. which I did.. two pieces at a time and my tiny toaster oven. it's frustrating because you pay first.. you don't get to see your pizza till they hand it to you after you pay. I'm going to have to ask to look at it from now on before I pay. I've had some other pizzas in town and the crust tastes pre-made frozen.. so at least here I get 60% chance of a good pizza. anywhere else it would be 100% no to my liking. it's a bit pricier here and I accept that but when the pizza comes not cooked it makes me want my money back. when I phoned about the overcooked pizza I got no comment at all.. not a 'oh we're sorry' or 'how can we make it up to you' so I won't even bother phoning about this pizza. it's just time for a frank review
ps I would have taken a picture but my mobility is so bad that I would have had to spend 10 minutes going to get my phone and struggling back to the door to get the picture before putting the pizza in the oven. my tiny oven didn't cook it very well. I thought it was done but now I just feel sick
June 27\ another overbake, this time on only the spinach lovers half. it's like it was cooked as a separate pizza and then added to the box after the fact. dry and crusty and dark and all the pieces were separated from each other as if they've been handled one by one and put in the box....
Read moreThis was by far, the worst gluten free pizza I have ever eaten. I went with friends who got 4 by the slice pieces of regular Hawaiian pizza. They looked great and I was excited to try the gluten free pizza because it is obviously advertised both on the sign, and the window. Clearly these guys are pushing it so it must be good right?
Unfortunately this was not the case. The crust was mostly flavourless, with the best comparison being cardboard. On top of that, there was hardly any cheese, and it wasn't even baked long enough to warm what is I am assuming the frozen crust, or melt the measly amount of cheese. We asked if out of the three toppings we could have extra cheese, the woman at the counter said " no, cheese is always extra" which is fair I suppose as a policy, however there was hardly any cheese on the small pizza. This seemed strange to me, because the four regular slices my friends bought which were much larger had adequate cheese. Mine however had so little cheese on it there there were holes through which you could see the sauce even near the centre of the pizza. The reason I think this is an issue, is that a 10" gluten free pizza is like 20$, which is a lot, I can name three other establishments in Vernon that make AMAZING gf pizza for substantially less than that. Including Ratio, which makes their dough from scratch. This pizza was so bad, I only ate one slice, and then threw away the rest.
Listen, it already sucks not being able to eat gluten, especially when it comes to pizza. Please don't add insult to injury by making...
