Very pretty park next to down town. It has tennis courts, a playground, water-spray park, outdoor fitness equipment, skate park, picnoc tables, washrooms, ponds, a creek, trees, grassy areas and a running track. It also has an amphitheatre and stage/concession for use by certain events.
I would have given a four or five-star rating, but the park is home to numerous Canada geese that keep almost all of the park littered with goose poo! Why the city of Vernon doesn't hired dog handlers to chase the geese away is beyond me! There are also many ducks, pigeons and crows, but@
Also be careful allowing little ones to play around sheltered areas or around bushes, etc. as there is currently drug users at night who leave their used needles behind.

Read moreI was visiting Vernon for a vacation and saw there was a Friday Night Market and it was alright, if you're able to go then I'd experience it once, but the amount of homeless people and drug addicts at this park make it feel unsafe, another thing that felt unsettling that I found out after I had visited was that a woman was found dead in a cart three days prior in the park and even years back at this night market some homeless guy was dead in the pond and had to be removed and people who were there could see it. The photos of this place from years ago seem like it'd be a nice place to take a walk but by evening it's packed with drug addicts and homeless and during the day it's protestors so you can't really enjoy it and the park is full of needles so I wouldn't really recommend going here, but again the Night...
Read moreWhat can I say? It's Polson Park. I grew up in Vernon, and Polson Park has always been there. I played there as a kid. I got into adolescent trouble there as a teenager, and I love going there as an adult. It is a beautifully laid out park. It's close to downtown and lots of services. And they have all kinds of cool events there (like the Friday Night Summer Artisans Market and live music). A few things have changed over the past 50 years, but the only thing I really miss is the floral clock. That clock was legendary. Unfortunately, vandals and the cost of maintenance have made it too expensive to remain. If you are visiting Vernon, go check out Polson Park and take a leisurely stroll; I'm sure that...
