Mary Brown's Chicken — Restaurant in Vernon

Today was my first experience with Mary Brown's.

Overall it met my expectations for a KFC-esque fast food place.

The Filipina working behind the counter was super friendly. She said "excuse me sir" the same way "asawa ko sa Makati" does so that made me chuckle due to the audio similarity. I said "salamat po" on the way out.

I am a vegetarian so I got the taters and the deep fried pickles.

Obviously, if you're at a place that specializes in fried chicken then expect some meat products to get into the taters. I found one small piece of chicken in my taters but I have had much worse experience with similar deep fried chicken fast food places. This is better than normal.

Besides, what vegetarians go get food from a deep fried chicken venue?

Overall, everything tasted fine. I only found two deep fried pickles were more pickle than deep fried.

The taters were mostly crunchy except for a select few.

All of the tables and counters are clean.

Ketchup packets are self serve which is great for people who are antisocial and don't want the hassle of asking at the counter as if they are guilty for consuming an excessive amount of ketchup.

Solid 4 stars. I'd come back again if I had a deep fried pickles and tater craving the next time I am...

So my fiancé went into MBC Vernon location tonight grabbed 6pieces of chicken to go. When he opened it up to eat it .. thankfully he noticed, the chicken was raw still! And that wasn’t even the worst part…. I call MBC Vernon and told them what happened and the response I got was we will give you “constellation more pieces of chicken !!!!!! I told he I want a full refund and cooked chicken! As I told her if we didn’t look at it before we ate it we both would have ended up salmonella poisoning , when I said this there was complete silence on the other end of the line!! I said you do know what Samonella is since you do work at a chicken joint??? To which she responded “no I don’t know what you’re saying.. sorry mama we make lots of chicken and sometimes this happens!! I just about lost my shit!!! I said “ NO! NEVER OS THIS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN LIKE EVER!!!! I am just blown away by lack of knowledge the employees have about the raw foods they handle on a regular day to day basis!!? This is unacceptable and will not just be the last time I ever eat at Mary Browns Chicken ! My next step is to call the company cuz this just ain’t right...

Can't help but notice words like "fresh" and "quality ingredients" splattered all over the restaurants marketing material including posters, sandwich bags, etc and yet when I opened my Big Mary sandwich today when I got home, the lettuce was beyond expired. "Quality" would suggest not having to disect my "fresh" Big Mary sandwich before I was to consume just to prevent getting sick from rotten lettuce. I'm hoping that by providing a "quality" review that if this is the standard for "quality ingredients" with "fresh" produce, there should be a slight review by the wonderful staff at this particular location as to what "fresh" and "quality" means. Crisp and green is what comes to my mind... This was my first experience with Mary Browns and I was less than impressed. $20 for a small sandwich with brown lettuce is concerning to say the least and it makes one wonder what else may be beyond the best...
