It was time for my 98th eatery.
I have only been in Roster's before and it was about thirteen years ago as I came here with my brother and his co-worker. They played Squash.
They go all in on a hockey and Blue Jays themed setup inside. The walls and the ceiling are covered in memorabilia.
For the fourth or fifth time, I suspended my vegetarian diet to try the Vipers Smash Burger. On the menu it is listed as saying it was voted the best burger in all of Vernon.
As somebody who has eaten a burger in nearly all 63 countries I have visited including nearly every burger in Vernon, I was curious to rate it myself.
You really need to like that distinct beef patty taste. As someone who quit eating meat 99 percent of the time 14 years ago, beef patties have a really overpowering and greasy taste.
I loved the crunch of the onion rings and the pickle inside, and the mayo looking sauce is pretty tasty.
I am very biased towards those spicy veggie burgers with a crunchy taste.
I prefer Red Robin's veggie patty Burnin Love burger and Mr. Mike's veggie burger in town more than what I had today.
I understand why you would like the Smash burger if you like the beef patty taste mixed with crunchy onion rings, a pickle, and bacon.
The French Fries with it are okay. I'm glad the waitress brought vinegar without being asked. You have to ask for vinegar at most restaurants.
I paid $25.97 after tax and tip for a burger that was voted as the city's best that included a side of fries and glasses of water.
It's a bit steep for one burger, but given it's reputation and how packed the burger is, I understand why it is essentially a $26 burger.
There are lots of TVs and the place has a very inspired setup.
Also, the waitress here is awesome. She's probably the best server I've had in a while.
Overall, I am glad I gave this place a try and am happy to put number 98 in the books. I should've waited until number 99 given the Gretzky posters...
Read moreI’ll give a 1 star only because they allowed me to find a table outside on my own so that my kids could come in and eat too otherwise it wouldn’t be any stars. Started off with the waitress who came off very rude overall saying my kids could come in if I could find a free table and it had to be outside, so expecting she might help me I waited, nope she expected me to go look. When I went outside, I found a dirty table scattered with drinks, some by stander guys that I’m assuming were the friends of the waitress helped clear my table as we sat and waited. Then we waited more for the server to come wipe the table. Once she wipes the table we placed our order which we then waited over and hour for. The food came out….i expected a 2 paddy burger to be big and filling, nope! 2 paper thin patties and a fairly dry bland burger, not sure what the hype is about this food on the reviews…. The atmosphere…a bunch of younger obnoxious people in their 20’s which whatever I didn’t care about. What I can’t get over is the crappy scenery in this industrial part of town!! Like why a resteraunt here? What crap views! Also whoever decorated this place…bland to the max, nothing special about this place. Not sure who would want to...
Read more2nd time within 10 months now, terrible food! I wrote an unfavourable review a few months back & was contacted & given free wings to come back. I went back again last night & it was even worse than before! The wings were from a hummingbird not a chicken they were so small! The smash burger that apparently had won best burger was very dry, no aioli, reg mayo scare diced red onion & two of the smallest dried out burger patties I have ever experience. The patties on the burger were the size of a toonie & the cheese non existent. They wanted $21.00 for this burger, I sent it back & we went to Dairy Queen, I has an original; double with cheese & was happy for only $6.99. I will never go to rosters again. It's really a shame because at one time it was really good food! Below you will see an answer from the manger! Smoke screening with details about aioli, my partner made the post after ordering the other smash burger, both were not good regardless of truffle aioli, red onions etc. To future customers, just beware the food is not...
