Hadn't been to this place before, considering I used to work so close by. The place hadn't previously attracted me, just because of the location. There didn't seem to be too much parking, and rarely do I hear people talking about it. So, it just never was a place I went to, until a few weeks ago. Highlights: Efficient service Good food So-so's: Washroom Parking This is just my opinion, I just want to leave my experience. Service is great, we got to sit by the bar, there was a lovely neighborhood atmosphere. The place was bigger than I thought, with a few dining areas that seem separated by the main entrance. Got there around 530pm on a Friday, which was good considering it wasn't super crazy busy, but the parking was almost full. Got our orders in, we had good suggestions(the wings) for an appetizer. I had the Cajun pasta with shrimp and chorizo, which was surprisingly good. The sauce was creamy, and the sauce was not soaking in the pasta (I sort of prefer my pasta swimming in sauce though). For the price, I think I had 6 prawns, and a decent amount of chorizo. I was mainly concerned about the prawns, thankfully they were not overcooked and tender. The husband got the burger with an apple chutney, which he usually doesn't go for, BUT he said it was actually really good. The food wasn't a long wait either, 15 minutes tops, and we hadn't even finished our chicken wing appetizer either. Which was the Kentucky Bourbon Hot- loved this flavour, will come back again for it! Had a slight kick which we both enjoyed. We do need to come back to sample the other menu items, which (from our experience with these menu items) sound really good. Only noticeable notes for me (maybe I'm being unreasonable) is that the building *is* a heritage building, so other parts of it might not be updated. While I don't expect much to change, the carpet leading up to the upstairs bathroom might need some extra love, and the bathroom might need a little bit of an update. Otherwise tidy. It is a lovely neighborhood pub, delicious food, great service. Beautiful character building.

I'm a freelance secret consumer for several outlets, and I'm now starting to write synopses of my local experiences and the articles/reports I submit, so I can post them on Google for the public to enjoy. I’m big on fair-pricing, genuine staff, owners with integrity, clean places…and impeccable food! I’ll be blunt with Christie’s: It’s a very nice venue, being that it’s in an old Victorian house. The staff are sometimes incredible and the food is good-enough to good. But, the food pricing is outrageous. If you don’t care about price and enjoy an atmosphere that’s often very loud to excruciatingly loud (hello trivia night Mondays) then you’ll love this old school neighborhood pub. As an example of the food: Fish Tacos (2): $15.75 Arrives on a dish meant for three, so you know you’ve already been subjected to shrinkflation as well as those temporary (yet now permanent) punishment costs of having survived Covid. The fish portions are minuscule and tasteless, the tortillas are dry, and it’s similar to how I feel every time I’ve eaten at Christie’s: It’s worth eating the food because I’m paying 20-30% more than I should, and I’ll order something else if I come back in future…for some social event or geographically convenient meet. And, the staff are good. Some are excellent (hello Kaitlynn - well done). I’m giving Christie’s three stars, essentially, because the pricing isn’t competitive and the food doesn’t merit the cost. I’d give Christie’s a 3.5 if that was an option, because in general, that’s what it is. I reckon if you can afford to buy the house next door to rid yourself of the noise complainy neighbors, then you can keep your prices in line with the working man and woman, rather than the people who underpay and under-appreciate them.

We weren't really impressed with the food, portions, and quality. it just wasn't that good to leave a very good review. I had the soup of the day that was a cheesy hamburger soup, and it was hardy but not favorable. I also had the sausage rolls appy, which I thought was a joke when brought out to me. It was $14 for what was described to me as 3 sausage rolls. Well, it was 3 on the plate. It was one cut into 3 slices. I'd wished I'd taken a picture of it. I'm very disappointed for the price, maybe 1/2 inch thick, and to be honest, all put back together probably wouldn't have made 1 sausage roll. Service was very slow, but in Makaylas' defense, she was dealing with 2 rather large tables, so getting a drink took a while. Our food came out in droves so the first people who got their food were long finished before the last people got there's. I'd say the bar service and kitchen service were very disorganized with how long it took to either get a drink or your food. When our food did arrive, we waited for the cutlery to arrive , and i finally got up and went and grabbed myself for our whole table of 20. Like I said, Makayla was overwhelmed with 2 large tables, and some smaller parties did the best she could. I'm not sure why management did send her extra help. It wasn't even the dinner rush as we never started ordering our food until 7:45 pm. We host our annual cousins reunion there once a year and think we might have to start looking for a better choice. Thank you, Makayla, for everything that you did, but your management team needs to step up their game.

A couple months ago a friend and I went to visit Christie's. We were in the mood for pub fare and luckily Christie's is right down the street from me. Busy night, as per usual for Christie's, however this night the service was surprisingly terrible, and when I say terrible I mean getting ignored for other tables, even when making pointed eye contact with the server and hailing. Out of the 6 times we got visited by a waitress, half of the time it was a different one. Had to get up after 45 minutes to ask for water, entrées served a couple of minutes after appies, with no room on the table, which meant it was cold by the time we were ready to dig into it, and had to pull in the plates every time the server squeezed by.

At the end of the meal, it took 20 minutes for a waitress to take our plates away, another 10 for our actual waitress to ask us if we wanted the bill, oh but after my friend went to go get her to get the bill. It was nice that she asked whether we were separate, because we were and told her as such, but when she gave us the bill it was put together, and had no time to tell her to correct it because she left as soon as she dropped it at our table. Another few minutes went by, she thankfully came prepared with a machine. She promptly split the bill (the fastest service we got all night), my friend paid, and I was pulling bills out of my wallet. Seeing the cash, she smiled said thanks, and left. There was no way for a $12 dinner I was leaving her a twenty. Had to go fetch a waitress to get change, who told me that I had to go through my waitress. After getting put on the back burner so many times and so blatantly, who would want to deal with that again? Nonetheless, no choice, paid her, got measly change, and we left. It was such a terrible experience it destroyed whatever good taste we actually had from the food.

Wanting to give Christie's another try tonight, I checked their menu online, saw the advert just under their logo for burgers being half price after 9pm, great! But I didn't want to risk horrendous service, so I ordered to take out. I had 10% taken off my meal for take out, but I was expecting just the 50% off my burger, otherwise I would have ate in. It was so loud, I didn't want to shout at the bartender to figure it out, besides the place was packed, and he was clearly working his butt off, I'm not gonna yell at the guy to have a conversation and destroy his night. No where on their take out menu PDF or their website does it say that their deals are null if you don't eat in, that would have been really nice to know. I would've ordered something completely different and not waited till after 9pm.

Moving along, go home, salad was nice with the Lou's Blue burger and the only nice thing about my meal. Burger patty was way overcooked; tasted like dry, crumbly, (even crunchy in some parts) old leather. The pickle with the hot sauce was stomach upset heaven. All I tasted whilst eating this thing was deadly acidity, and old shoe.

With Christie's being so close, and having enjoyed their food, service, and atmosphere in the past, especially for large friend gatherings, these past two experiences have completely destroyed my faith and like for this place. I'm so disappointed. I may dare to try them again, but only for their appy deal, since I have never had a bad experience during those hours of operation service wise and most certainly food wise, but that is not until the very far future when this repulsive taste no longer lingers...

We went to this little pub today based on reviews my partner had read. We were totally disappointed with the food, although want to clearly state that the lady that served us was a total 10 out of 10. She was personable, efficient, very pleasant and the bright spot to this experience.

The seafood chowder was loaded with dill over powering the flavour of the seafood and thickened with flour to a point that it would not drip off a spoon.

My partner had the fish with coleslaw. He enjoyed the coleslaw and ordered only one piece but it was more batter than fish and the fish wasn’t terribly fresh either.

We also had poutine which had a weird infusion of thyme or sage in the gravy…it was terrible and definitely not house made as it states on the menu. The only reason I ordered it was because the gravy was supposedly made in house and this definitely was not.

My partner is sensitive to msg and could tell within minutes of leaving the restaurant that there was lots of msg in something and we suspect the gravy but are unsure. Plus pouring some thyme or sage oil into it does not make it house made.

Then one hour after leaving the pub my partner started vomiting and did so continuously for 1/2 hr.

We went there because of the reviews he read here on Google but now we are thinking that it may be staff, owners or friends of owners that put in very positive reviews as nothing measured up except the service and atmosphere.

In addition, the location of the pub so close to Jubillee Hospital would make it a good option for people who are visiting or have family in the hospital. They are under stress already so I would advise them to find another option nearby.

Regarding your reply, we had already made the decision to NEVER go back there but your lack of empathy for my husband vomiting after eating your food solidifies our decision. I do hope customers can read your very terse and disrespectful response as it certainly portrays the kind of...
