Here we go... worst front-end service I've ever had!! The only saving grace for this dining experience was our server, Terra, her excellent customer service skills, and the cooks who never seem to fail at preparing a delicious meal. However, we came in and were told by the trainee hostess that it'd be just a minute for a booth. There were 2 booths empty and uncleaned within view yet myself, my son and 75 year old mother were still told to wait for at least 15 minutes by the trainee and then repeatedly by the franchise trainer, Irene. I mentioned the booth directly in front of us since we had been standing for 10 minutes at that point she said that booth wasn't cleaned, I offered to clean it for them even though both hostess trainer and trainee were at times standing at the front not occupied. As a former server of manyyy years, I knew this was ridiculous and terrible customer service, and I just wanted to have a seat for my family, especially my 75 year old mother. Irene then became quite snarky and rude and then ignored us completely. When our lovely server Terra spotted us standing there waiting, she came over and asked us if we'd been helped , so I told her that 15 minutes prior, we were asked to wait for a booth. She was visibly surprised and said, "Come with me, I have a booth over here." As we followed I noticed slightly around the corner not in my sight from the entrance was a bench we could've been offered to sit and wat, and as we were directed to an empty , clean booth that was not in my view the 2 other visible ones were still sitting empty and dirty. I mentioned to Terra that we had been waiting for a booth for over 15 minutes and thanked her for spotting us , the franchise trainer Irene, chimed in to tell her that I asked for a booth that wasn't cleaned. Unreal that there wasn't someone who could take literally one minute to bus and wipe down a booth for customers standing and waiting for so long, and absolutely disgusting the attitude of the franchise trainer Irene for the rudeness, completely deplorable customer service!! To make matters worse she kept looking around the corner and glaring at us, and even mid meal, made an obvious point to come to the booth behind us to ask extra nicely how there meal was and to enjoy, proceeded to glare one last time and go back to the front. I've never had such a terrible experience with any service staff at dennys and given that Irene was a franchise trainer, this was even more frustrating to be treated so poorly and knowing that she was training another hostess just made it worse. Dennys head office really should be rethinking Irene's effectiveness in that position. As a person who has worked in customer service and with people for 25 years, this woman presents back-end skills at best and should NOT be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently went to Denny's for my birthday as I had every year in the past decade or so.
It seemed okay to start, but became quickly apparent that the waitress wasn't mentally present. She took our orders, and I had ordered the country-fried chicken with broccoli instead of the hash browns. She came back a few minutes later and asked "You ordered corn, right?" to which I corrected her that, no, I ordered broccoli. She came back a while later and, speaking to my partner instead of me for some reason, mentioned they were out of broccoli, and do I want the corn instead. I pulled her attention to me and told her that I'd prefer the grilled tomatoes.
She left the table and came back with a coffee and two waters. Neither me or my partner had ordered coffee, and I didn't ask for a water. She took the coffee back, and eventually came back with the pop I ordered.
At this point, my partner had to head to the bathroom. He came back mentioning that there was a homeless man smoking crack in the bathroom stall and he could hear him actively lighting and smoking something. This made us quite uncomfortable with the idea of using the bathroom.
A little while later, our food came and it seemed alright, but the quality had dropped so significantly from what I remember it being - it was really greasy and lacked any real flavor. Near the end of my meal, my partner noticed a large black hair under my eggs. I was quite grossed out and informed the waitress. She took it back to the kitchen and comped my country-fried chicken.
We then asked for our bill and, for some reason, our bill had two coffees on it that we once again didn't order. It also didn't have my pop on it. I'm not sure what the waitress was doing, but she didn't seem to be paying attention during most of our interactions and just seemed generally absent.
We notified the person up at the front that we didn't order coffee, my pop wasn't on there, and that we had the one item comp'd, just so she'd be aware. I asked if my birthday discount could be taken off the pop, since the chicken was free due to the large hair in it. She was extremely hesitant and said that normally no, that can't be done (even though I'm pretty sure they used to just subtract the $14.95 from the total bill), but she would do it just this once.
Overall the experience was fairly upsetting, uncomfortable, and genuinely disappointing. I made the decision after that to never go back, for my birthday or otherwise. Was an awful start to an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHorrible service since location change. Its a different vibe completely. We have been regulars at the old location a couple times a month.
We went in on Jan 2nd my friends bday around lunchtime. It was pretty empty maybe two tables had people seated in the restaurant. Despite that, we were standing waiting to be seated for almost 10 minutes before a non server finally saw us and seated us, where we requested a table a bit away from the other people seated.
We were seated waiting for about 15 minutes, during which almost everyone else who was eating there had left.. before a server finally asked us if we had been served yet, as she didn't know about us. (The non server guy didnt tell her?) She then took our order, asked us to repeat it twice to her and she also repeated it back to us. Seeemingly unable to remember things.
While waiting for our food, all other seats in restaurant empty, they then seated a large party directly beside us, when we had requested a farther away table from people.
When the food came, it was the wrong dish. My friend whos bday it was(who only likes the one menu item) ordered his usual: a slam burger.. but he was served a slam sandwich with sausages etc on it. (I will say my food was good and his looked fine, his was just not what was ordered or liked etc.) At this point we just wanted to get out of there, didnt eat half the meals. Very dissappinting. The only saving grace here was that the wrong meal was removed from the bill. But the bad experience still remains.
We will give this place another chance, but will definitely be going in during times when familliar servers are working. Wally is the best, always calls us boss and is so friendly, always gets the order right and...
