I took my family out to dinner tonight because they helped me move. It was my first time eating at the Fernwood Pizza Company and I thought it was amazing. There were six of us and I ordered one of their large green herb salads. It was big enough that we all got a little bit of salad to start. I was very impressed. Then, we ordered two large pizzas for the six of us and we all got full with a slice to spare. The crust was delicious, just the right thickness. Not the kind that you leave the crust behind on the plate. No, you want to eat all of it. We had a pay day and an artichoke pizza, both packed with toppings.
I was also really impressed by the selection of drinks that they had. Tons of great beer choices (some wine and non alcoholic beverages as well). Not just mainstream but really exciting beer choices. Afterword we had ice cream for dessert.
I thought the whole thing was a really great value. I will definitely be going back. I’m already thinking about it and I just left there a few hours ago.
These guys have brought together great beer, amazing pizza and ice cream in one place. A match made in heaven. I must say that having some great salads to choose from as well is so smart, I case someone in the group wants something lighter. And it takes the guilt out of the...
Read moreVery disappointed in a place that has so much potential. The pizza is genuinely good, and the dips are even better (I don't know what crust dust is, but it's a fantastic addition as well). That being said, I'd treat this place as walk in only.
We tried calling twice to order pickup, with no answer and an automated "this customer is unavailable". Assuming they were swamped, we went to their website and saw the link to an online ordering system. We ordered 1 large pizza & 2 dips. We received a confirmation email, that said the dips were free, but we were definitely charged for them.
The email also had a note attached that said there's usually a 45min wait for pickup. After 45min, my partner tried calling again, and with no answer again, he went to pick it up. There were only 2 patrons inside, it did not seem busy at all.
We have no idea why there was no pick up time given at all, or why they didn't contact us when it was ready, or why they did not answer any of the 3 times we called. To boot, our pizza was lukewarm (it went in our oven twice), but the ends were so soggy already.
Overall, a very underwhelming experience. Definitely not...
Read moreI live in Fernwood, and was excited to try out Fernwood Pizza Company. I am Celiac, so I ordered a pizza on a gluten free crust. I have had MANY gluten free pizzas (I love pizza), and this by far was the absolute WORST!
Gluten-free products sadly have the reputation of tasting like 'cardboard', but over the past 5+ years, there has been a MASSIVE improvement in gluten free foods (thanks fad diets haha). However, this pizza crust literally tasted like cardboard. It was so hard to bite and chew, I stopped eating it because my jaw hurt, not because I was full.
In addition to the crust being awful, the toppings were sub-par. I ordered a pepperoni-mushroom pizza, and the mushrooms were whole! I have never seen this on a pizza. Also the pepperoni was in large cubes. It almost was like they got lazy and didn't cut up the toppings. There also weren't many toppings, or much cheese, which was disappointing given the $27 dollar price tag.
Needless to say, I won't be back. I would much rather spend my money on a palatable...
