Came here for Dimsum, the food was very disappointing. Bbq pork buns were extremely dry, the fried dumplings with shrimp & pork were extremely soggy and under cooked, the bbq pork pastries were very dense and extremely cold as if it was made the day before and not even reheated. Pretty much all the food came less than warm or cold which was very surprising. Over all the food was a very big disappointment. It took an extremely long time for everything to come. Currently we have been sitting here for over an hour and a half and we are still waiting for part of our food and the restaurant is not even that busy anymore and we still have been continuing to wait. We’ve inquired 5 times and have barely had any service except for the water girl.
The water girl pouring hot water in our teapot is doing an exceptional job, she had come around 8-10 times already and is very helpful, we asked for for extra napkins and she came right away.
Apart from that the service here is horrible, the food is horrible and this is a disgrace towards Dimsum and Chinese restaurants. Most likely I will not be back if I had the choice.
Update: we finally got one of the orders we had been waiting for (1 hour and 48 minutes) for noodles, it taste very poorly made. The noodles are so salty it taste like they dumped a whole salt shaker inside, it just taste like salt and crusty old noodles. I feel like they forgot our noodles, set them aside and re heat them. Very horrible tasting. I’ve never had something so bad.
We continued to sit after our food was served and waited for other dishes for them to only disclose to us far later that they had sold out of the other foods we were waiting for.
Very bad communication skills.
The only good employee here is the girl that was pouring hot...
Read moreWent on a Saturday, craving some good Dim Sum. The place looks like it hasn't been updated since the 1990's, and it's one big open room. No problem, as long as the food is good. They would only give us one menu, which was difficult as we all wanted to peruse the selections. There are no pictures, so you need to know what you want, and check it off on the paper menu. There are no push-carts here, which is disappointing, but maybe they got rid of the carts because of Covid restrictions. Food was just ok, and definitely not great compared to what you can get in Vancouver or Toronto. One of our dishes was tripe, which we've had many times in other places. However, they served us beef tripe (menu did not specify if it was beef or pork....everywhere else it's always pork)...and it was very chewy and strong gamey taste, actually so nasty tasting we could not eat it. And we usually enjoy tripe! Half way through our meal, we decided to order a couple of noodle dishes for takeout. Well, we were done eating, went to pay and asked about our takeout dishes....they told us they're coming in a few minutes. After 30 minutes of waiting, we told them to forget it and only wanted to pay for the Dim Sum...the guy at the bar (where the cash register is) told us it would only be a couple more minutes. 15 minutes later (total of almost an hour of waiting for the noodles) the food finally came out! We ended up being very late for an appointment. I mean, if you haven't even started cooking the noodles, then just say so, don't lie and say it's coming out in a couple of minutes! Very disappointing service, and only so-so food. For the price we paid, it wasn't worth it. Will not...
Read moreI was in a group work lunch and because we only had 1 hour to eat, we pre-ordered at 11:15 am so everybody could get their order by noon.
Most of the people in our group got their order in a timely fashion but mine was missed. I followed up with them several times but nothing happened. I finally received my lunch 45 minutes after we arrived. The food was ok but nothing to rave about. I think it really depends what you order with this restaurant. Some of my other colleagues was also disappointed with their dishes (e.g., some of the comments I heard was tasteless, plain and surprisingly small portions).
The rest of the group finished eating and my lunch was almost over so I had to get a takeout container. When I complained, the owner said my lunch took longer to make due to the noodles (even though we gave them the order early!). There was no apology and she tried to charge me more. The chicken with vegetable chow mein on their website is $16.95 and she tried to charge me more than $18.00. This was adjusted once I complained. So either the online price was incorrect or the owner was just trying to charge more – so buyer beware! Its possible they just did not update their website.
I used to do takeout lunches from Golden City a lot before the pandemic under the previous owners. This is the first time I’ve tried the restaurant under the new ownership. The entire experience (food and service) was...
