We walked here for lunch on Wednesday and arrived about 1230. There was no wait and about 6 or 7 other occupied tables. We were quickly seated and the waiter came by twice as we weren’t sure what we were going to have and were busy chatting. The food came out pretty quickly and looked fantastic; we had the Rock Fish Tacos, a rice noodle/peanut salad and an egg sandwich. All were very tasty and a pretty good portion! We were however disappointed with the service after we got our food…like we had been forgotten. Not once did anyone come back to check on us - we had 3 empty glasses on the corner of the table for more water and sat with empty plates for quite sometime. We attempted to gain eye contact but never achieved our goal. It was only when we went to get up to find someone to get the bill were we acknowledged again. I am not sure if they were low on staff but it is not a large restaurant and they could have least pop buy one more time to see if everything was alright.

Perfect location, Nicely prepared food with sufficient portion size. I can’t believe it’s a Vegetarian restaurant but that makes them unique restaurant, which serves healthy and hygienic food. The server was knowledgeable about recipes and quite helpful. Menu is well designed. Although less food options in menu, the quality of food is superb with balanced flavors and taste. We had ordered 1 enchilada and 1 pad Thai noodles with 1 miso soup and 1 dal soup, and it was more than sufficient for a family of 5. Everything was tasty and filling. My wife had severe headache, so, requested tea with ginger and mint and the server and chef tried their best to get it done. Nice gesture. One must pay a visit, it’s really worth it. Lunchtime visit is preferable to avoid rush and wait. Interior and tables are simple but clean, little upgrade in tables and toilet will take the restaurant to top in the area.

Went to this restaurant with my sister and brother in law. The environment is very zen and I liked that it was vegetarian and vegan friendly. The staff is nice and friendly. As we were in a rush, our waiter made sure we had our food on time for us to catch the ferry home. We ordered the rebar poutine, the almond burger, a salmon burger and the spicy peanut noodle bowl. In terms of the poutine he tastes like miso. I found it to be enjoyable but it you do not like miso, I would not recommend it. I had the spicy peanut noodle bowl. It was a 6/10 rating on my scale. It was not very spicy and a little bit dry so I would ask for extra peanut sauce. As I did not eat the almond burger or salmon burger I won't comment much on them. I would try this place again, but I'd probably try other items on the menu. It's good enough to say I'd give it another shot.

Very slow service. We were seated and placed our drink orders. Three out of four of us ordered wine and beer and the fourth ordered tea. The tea order took a long time as in after the shared appetizer was served and the tea pot and cup were more like the size of a child's play tea party set.. Entrees took another hour and they forgot the half more like quarter avocado for the salad that was ordered. No apologies. The spicy peanut noodle bowl was overpriced for the amount and it was bland and a sauce that was barely existent. It was like they either ran out of peanut butter or doing their best to go cheap on ingredients. I think more the latter. Had always enjoyed coming here but this will be the last time.

July 2019.

I am changing the rating from one star to four due to a recent experience. We were running out of dinner options and were desperate for food after having our respective long runs. We popped into Rebar and were pleasantly surprised by the portions and substantial salad with avocado added to each of our orders. Most places give you a skimpy, 1/4 avocado, we both got half an avocado each as add ons. In addition to our meal size salads, we also had the hummus with tomato chutney. Glad our desperation gave us the opportunity to enjoy dining at Rebar once again. In addition to the food, the service was pleasant and satisfactory.

October 2019

While our faith was restored in July, we're sad that we won't be returning. For some reason the kitchen has decided that just about everything on the menu will have garlic in it and quite the healthy dose of it. For those garlic lovers, it's wonderful but those who have digestive issues or intolerance to garlic, stay away. Even their miso soup had garlic in it. We love huge bowl dishes but we don't feel like we should have to ask for no sauce or dressing and...

Well this place has gone downhill, very sad to see.

The enchilada I ordered and the fish burger my wife ordered were inedible. The taste and texture was like they had been microwaved from frozen. Worse - if you've has the Amy's microwave enchilada, the Amy's beats the Rebar enchilada BY FAR.

The fish was rubbery and solid like a hockey puck. The chick peas were from a can. The corn was from a can. Gone was the fresh delicious food with bright flavour and pleasing texture.

My enchilada had very little filling, I couldn't even find some of the ingredients listed on the menu, and it was swimming in a pool of WAY too much sauce that seemed intended to hide the condition of the food. Oh and it was cold in the middle.

Five years ago on our last visit, this restaurant was busy and there was a line out the door.

When we went, it was empty except for us and two other tables - IN JULY! Height of tourist season, prime location, hardly anyone there. We certainly won't go again.

The server was very sweet it wasn't her fault and they offered to have the cook redo our meal or make something else - but our first food was so terrible we didn't want to try anything else.

Oh, and the bathrooms look like they haven't seen any maintenance in 10 years. Very poor condition, and the soap and paper...

I found a hair in my food immediately upon opening my take out and after removing it and scooping out the food that was in the immediate surrounding area, I bit into a very over-salted and poor tasting Superbowl. It just tasted...off. I've had this dish in-house (it was amazing), so I know have a comparable. I won't go into graphic detail, but after eating just a cup of the dish I ended up running to the bathroom within 20 minutes with an extremely upset stomach. I was on the toilet for almost half an hour. I have never had that happen.

Accidents happen, yes, but it's more the lack of care from management. No effort to correct the issue whatsoever. It was delivered through Skip The Dishes and the woman on the phone at Rebar tried to lay the blame on them! I messaged their FB page since there is no email contact on the website and they read my message almost a month ago and nothing. I found a hair in my food, it was over-salted, and it sent me straight to the bathroom. And I was out $30.

I've eaten at Rebar more than a handful of times and I like to promote local establishments, but I will not be back after this. Dissatisfied and, apparently, my experience with their restaurant is not of value...
