If it wasn't for someone bugging me to hit up a dairy queen, I'd honestly not go there, at least to this location. Only once in the last 4 visits did I walk away with not only what I wanted but what I ordered. It seems they either have Reese's Pieces, not the peanut butter cups, just the little hard candy, or they don't. I don't understand why they are on the menu one time, and the next, they are not. Also, they don't take cash, so if you aren't prepared to pay with a credit card or debit card, be prepared to get your change in gift card!! forcing you to come back to a dairy queen. Finally, and I can only imagine this ties into why they have moved away from using actual cash in purchases, is that the help is all high schoolers. Now, while I'll always champion the youth of today working, it does lead to a high preponderance of mistakes occurring. As I said, only ONCE in the last four visits did I get what I wanted/ordered. This last visit, I asked for a Skor Blizzard and I get chocolate syrup added to it, I said to the the kid, I asked for a normal Skor Blizzard and he says this is normal, that they always add chocolate syrup to the blizzards?!?! They offer to remake it, which, if it wasn't a mistake, why offer, but after spending 20 minutes waiting for my order, I told him by the time he's replaced my blizzard, my other two items will have melted, and I doubt those are going to be remade either. The whole place is off, 3/4er full WRONGLY made blizzards, gift-cards for cash (though with highschoolers working, I wouldn't want them handling cash, they'd steal it) long waits, honestly I'd recommend staying away or better yet, buy a container of Shaws Ice Cream from your local grocery and avoid this whole process...
Read moreSo we've been coming to this location a lot recently. Always tasty treats, but the quality is not consistent. Everytime we've gone, there's been something wrong (don't get me wrong, it's still tasty) but my bf will get a milk shake and they chop off most of the banana and give him the smallest piece of banana for his milkshake. His mom orders a peanut buster parfait, and there's literally 5 peanuts in the whole thing. I get strawberry cheese cake blizzard, and when they take out the silver cup thing they use to mix everything, all the cheesecake pieces are stuck to it and I end up with a few cheesecake pieces. However, today by chance we ended up at this location (we were going to go to a different location because we haven't been happy with our visits to this location) but decided to save time, we would suck it up and go to this location. We were so blown away today by the service we recieved we had to let our server know how pleased we were. She made all of our treats this evening. She used a whole banana for my bfs milkshake. She gave his mom so many peanuts in her peanut butter parfait and she loaded up my strawberry cheesecake blizzard with extra cheesecake pieces and made sure that all my cheesecake pieces ended up in my blizzard instead of being stuck to the silver thing they put in the cup to mix it. She was the thinner south Asian girl. She was super friendly. Double checked our order and really did give us the quality we a) pay for and b) remember, from dq back in the day. Everyone else looked miserable, gave dirty looks and really just bring the place down. But our server truly was the best server we have had at this location yet! I wish we got her name.but keep yo the...
Read moreThis DQ has been our family go-to ice cream shop for years but last night was the last time. My wife went to pay for our order by cash and to our surprise they refused to refund us with cash?. We were told to "go next store and see if they'll give you change". Im not sure what the owner is trying to accomplish here. First if all, this policy clearly does not put the customer first so we look forward to trying local ice cream shops that will. Secondly, the staff weren't pleasant but I cant entirely blame them. They have to go through this issue with many frustrated customers and there is no owner support there for them. I see many reviews here with the same point of view and the response is a generic answer from an owner that refuses to take accountability for a self serving policy that is detrimental to their customer service. We will let corporate know that it is a flawed policy, and although DQ locations are independently owned it is a bad policy for their brand. Shame that an owner would do this but looking forward to try the many other shops that Waterloo...
