This is my first ever food review, and I am a faithful wings up customer (waterloo location) for 6 years straight. So I'll be honest. I love wings up and have loved it since i discovered it in my second year of university in 2011! I am graduated and work in the city and frequent at least twice a month. The taste, the portion size, the flavor, the different types of sauces = All wonderful. However, there are some things about wings up I absolutely despise. For one, for the last two years there consistency has been off in terms of wing sauce. Back in the day, you never had to worry about whether there was enough sauce on your chicken or too much. It was just perfect on your chicken, and you could always expect to have a decently sauced wing, and even some on the side to dip your potato wedges into if you liked. Now the price of 1 lb. of their amazing wings is currently $15.81. I don't know if you can tell from the wings I bought today, but the person who made them, only put enough sauce on the to cover it mildly. Some of the wings I ate had parts of it that were almost sauceless (not pictured). I get that this could be attributed to various workers who make the wings different, hence affecting quality and consistency, but still I just hate that for the last 2-3 years I've had to resort to requesting my wings be made sloppy, in order to know that for sure my wings will have sauce on it. Which by the way is an additional charge! And the con about that is that sometimes If i order sloppy, then my wings literally come swimming in something similar to the red sea that Moses and his crew parted. One thing that I've always tolerated though is the price, though expensive; but because of the taste it's almost justified. Almost! I say this because I'm sorry anywhere else you are spending $15 on a meal you can almost be sure you can get a drink included, get condiments/napkins, a big enough portion that is enough for a meal 4 two and so on so forth. At wings up, drinks are extra when they really should be included in the meal deal. But that doesn't bother me too much. But was worth mentioning. I think today I just hit my ceiling with my chicken, because being the foodian I am, i was craving it a certain way, and was just thoroughly disappointed that standard I know they can reach for the customers was not met. I love wings up and will continue to go there, but I do hope they can train everyone to make the wings the same way, and consider adding drinks as a part of their deal. Or at the very least have a discounted wings day for the public, or even just as a student. Wings up is great, but on occasion, when I was student when faced with the choice to get wings up that I craved or pizza or Mickey D's I would opt for the latter. But regardless, I hope this review will be taken in good faith, because I never do these lol. And i just felt like being honest about my love for the place but abit my frustrations...
Read moreDisappointing.. its businesses like this that hurt the economy and make me spend my money ONLY with trusted franchises or places I know i will enjoy. What i mean to say is i am sick and tired of "Trying" new places because i am always let down like i was tonight. I decided to give wings up a shot tonight since i havent been there in a couple years. I remember they have good wings and sauces. So i decided to check out there menu online. First thing that stood out was a couple promotions they were offering. Any 2 of 7 Sandwiches OR Wraps for $8.79. Cool Right? The pictures look ok, so i head over there and ask the workers what they thought about them and if they were good. Sometimes i wonder why i even ask when i know they will say its good regardless of what they think. I decided to get the deal and asked for a Smiley sandwich with mild sauce and mentioned to the cashier i am stuck on either a buffalo wrap or caesar wrap, so i asked her if she had tryed them and which one she liked. She had said she liked the ceasar so i said "great i will have the ceasar". I also ended up trying the nacho cheese sticks appetizer. When she was punching everything in i repeated the order and said "so we have the smiley sandwich and ceasar wrap and nacho cheese sticks right" and she agreed. Cool wait time was good, friendly staff, got my food and headed home. I live by the boardwalk in waterloo so its a decent drive away. When i get home I pull out everything and realize they gave me 2 sandwiches, I open up the odd sandwich and see its a chicken caesar sandwich. I go online and check and sure enough its on the menu. Thats what pisses me off. why cant they know that this can be a confusion? 100% i ordered the wrap specially when i was compairing a buffalo vs caesar and they do not have a buffalo sandwich, even if they did they should be CLEAR. I decided to suck it up and try it but sure enough again its sucks. The nacho cheese stick were soft and completely falling apart when dipping them into the sour cream. SO i decided to call in and let them know about the confusion. They ask me to bring in the sandwich and they can replace it with a wrap. When i tell them how I am far away, they say "Oh Sorry about that". I wouldnt even waste my time writing this right now but thats just stupid, like i drive OUT OF MY WAY to TRY them and they mess up my order and like i have nothing better to do tonight i would just drive it back for a replacement...NO Im sorry, How about offering me a wrap another day or a discount for YOUR mistake? Its funny how businesses want to offer you what you originally ordered as a sorry for your trouble, never mind my time and gas to go there and give you my money, But anways they obviously dont appreciate customers long term value so i wont be going back. Dont waste your hard earned money or time with there crappy sandwiches Long...
Read moreGood evening,
I love wings and wings up sometimes can be the place to go, although there are quite a few issues that I run into at this location specifically. I had arrived on September 25 after place an order over the phone and had picked up my order to which seemed to be much less than what I had ordered. There was not a lot of chicken bites, although ordering a large container of this And the way in which the food was presented was not appetizing.
Unfortunately, this is not the worst experience I’ve had here. In the past, I have been met with poor customer service. I had asked for a price over the phone and was shocked on arrival to receive a different price than what was told to me on the phone. Transparency in cost should be utmost importance or at least honoured although I was met with disregard for the mistake of the server.
I am not sure if it is this location specifically because I do enjoy the wings of product sauces, and have had better luck at other locations, Although I do think that there should be something done to improve the quality of the experience at this...
