We made a reservation one day in advance at Hello Nori (Park Royal, West Vancouver), confirming that our group included four adults and three children. We specifically requested an indoor square table, not an outdoor one. However, when we arrived, there was no table prepared for us. The staff casually pointed to an outdoor table that hadn’t even been set up and said that was our table.
On a nearly 30°C day, asking four adults and three seven-year-old kids to sit outside in the heat was simply unacceptable.
When I told them we couldn’t accept that table, they said there were no tables inside and suggested splitting our group: four adults at one table, and three children — all seven years old — at a separate table. I have to ask: how is that even acceptable? How can anyone expect three young children to sit alone safely and comfortably during a meal?
I then suggested combining two tables so we could all sit together. That idea was firmly rejected, with the reason being it would block other tables. I asked the staff to find a suitable space for two tables to be joined, but they clearly stated there was no such option. There was no willingness to accommodate a very reasonable request.
Meanwhile, the overall atmosphere inside the restaurant was unprofessional and frankly, disrespectful. As we raised our concerns, other staff members were laughing among themselves or standing around doing nothing. This was 6:30 PM on a Saturday evening, and the restaurant was far from busy — about two-thirds of the tables were empty.
No one seemed to care or try to resolve the issue. The whole attitude felt like: “If you want to eat, eat. If not, leave.” Two girls behind the bar were laughing nonstop — whether they were joking with each other or mocking us, I honestly couldn’t tell. Either way, it was not the behavior you expect in a professional setting.
I clearly said we were unhappy with the situation and planned to leave. Still, no one did anything — until I finally said, “I’ll be leaving a negative review on Google.” Only then did they scramble to help, calling in more staff to set up a table and chasing after us with explanations.
And I have to wonder: if I hadn’t said that, would they have just let us leave? Would they have even tried to help?
I never got the chance to try the food myself, so I can’t personally say whether it’s good or not. While I’ve seen online reviews praising the food, my experience here was dominated by poor service and staff who seemed completely indifferent to our complaints and the idea of receiving negative reviews.
Metro Vancouver is a vibrant hub for dining, entertainment, and leisure with countless options to choose from. If Hello Nori chooses to not care about its customers’ experience or feedback, then people are free to take their business elsewhere — there are plenty of better places around.
I’m sharing this to help others make an informed choice. Thank you...
Read moreI placed a takeout order from this restaurant, and not only did they forget my spicy shrimp roll, but they charged me for it anyway. Mistakes happen, but the way they handled it was beyond unacceptable. When I called to let them know, the lady (at first) had the audacity to argue with me as she was the one who “packed the order”, then after realizing the item was in fact missing (why would I waste my time phoning them to lie about it? See photos) told me to “hold on a second”. I was then put on hold for 20 minutes — yes, TWENTY — only for nothing to come of it. I tried calling back multiple times and got no answer. No apology, no attempt to make it right, no offer of a refund or credit, just rude and dismissive customer service. Only a couple days days prior I ordered the Toyosu platter ($99) - so it’s really not about the money but about the principle that they charged me for something that I didn’t receive and then were rude AND did not offer to fix it.
Unless you enjoy throwing money away for food you’ll never receive and being ignored when you try to resolve an issue, save yourself the frustration and take your business elsewhere. Unfortunate as I am a big sushi lover and was very excited for this location to open! I prefer to write positive reviews but this...
Read morewe have been to most of your locations. mostly Robson when shopping love the space here. the larger offerings the prep staff for food was great. we had an odd start though i believe it was the bartender on who seemed confused and finally said ok ill take your order as he was busy making drinks. it came off rude. not something we’d expect. especially as there were so many staff on at the time. another girl came to greet us and then was pushed aside by the guy making drinks and then serving us. then a girl who was probably shadowing the waitress to train seemed a bit odd. tried to make convo but it was uncomfortable sure with time she’ll be less awkward and learn better social skills
just wanted to mention. the seats at all locations are small and feel uncomfortable and we are not big people so this location has a different style but still feels off. it might be intentional to get people to move on but that’s short sighted i realize you have tables but that counter style experience is why we come
consider an option for 4 pieces of aburi maybe let people chose as often it’s two sharing i know that 3 is customary but if you give a choice or set a price to add on extras
the host stand was left unmanned both when we came in and left and someone did approach to say bye. but it felt odd not having someone watching that area and greeting. especially with so many staff on
sorry for my rant. we have run business and own a business and are highly tuned into...
