04.28.2022 I will add it because I got a reply from them. "we did help you guys through making house special sauces and teaching you how to cook in the hot pot." It says, but it was honestly annoying. An old man grabbed my chopsticks without permission and put the meat in our hot pot. They speak loudly and overwhelmingly over and over during our meals. I wanted this to be private time with my friends, but are restaurant stuff proud of it as "the best service"? These people are quite confident and amazed. Do you grab the chopsticks your customers are using at this time when COVID-19 was popular? can not believe. They don't understand anything and the reply in this shop is not a real apology.
04.26.2022 When paying with a card, I accidentally skipped the tipping screen. I couldn’t go back because there was no button to go back, so I was thinking of tipping it later. (There was only a cancel button) But earlier than I say about it, she said, “Huh !? Why isn’t there a tip!!!? Are you dissatisfied with our service!!? What’s wrong!!?“. “I accidentally skipped the screen.” And I tried to ask her if I could pay tip separately. However, I felt scared and atrophied because she spoke unilaterally with her high-pressure attitude. (It was difficult to communicate with each other, probably because English is a second language.) She said before I said anything “OK! OK! Then how much do you pay me !? What percentage !? Huh? How much !?” she put out the calculator, pointed to the total amount, and she attitude was “You pay me early”. I was fed up with this situation and became reluctant to tip. (But I paid it a little bit.) My mood was terrible and I wanted to share this event with the people around me. As a matter of course, it’s my fault that I made a mistake and didn’t the tip. However, it is true that I was shocked by the attitude of the shop owner. The food is more expensive than other HotPot restaurants, but it’s not delicious. Overall, I didn’t like the taste of this restaurant. Compared to hot pots from other stores, the ingredients may be fresher. But I’m not convinced by this pricing and the shopkeeper’s attitude. I’ll never go to this restaurant again, and if my friends were planning to get together at this restaurant, I would share this incident and we would go to another...
Read moreFalse advertising. On their website, it mentioned "Our introductory price starts from $15.99. Combo: Meat's price + $6.99, you can get FREE soup base, assorted platter, drink & rice or noodles."
But when we asked about this combo price at the restaurant, the host said it was probably a lunch special. No where on the website and online menu mentioned this combo being available just for lunch; only that it was available Mon-Fri. When we mentioned that, the host gave us a hidden menu that featured a different combo deal for 2 being around $70 which gave us limited choices but a bit more in quantity, including veggies. The other option was to pick every items individually (which added up to being roughly the same price).
We came in for dinner expecting it to be roughly $50 for two people. Instead, with the false advertising and limited options, the shady business set you up to spend much more than you anticipated for. We ended up spending around $30 more than we wanted because of this set up (including adding a drink and sauces). Do not go here if you don't want to experience shady business.
Food was ok at most. It was nothing spectacular and definitely not worth how much they charge. If you want a better hot pot experience with better food, stick to the ones in Richmond. They might be a bit more expensive but at least they're more clear and upfront about their pricing system.
The most basic thing they can do to drive their business is to educate their staff about their website offering, update both their online and instore menu so it is more clear on their restrictions (they had other unclear restrictions on their menu other than time availability) and own up to their lack of clarity. If the website offered a deal that did not list any restriction, the right thing would be to honor it but in this case, they try to make you spend more by hiding the combo menu and refusing to speak to management for clarity.
The whole shadyness behind their menu pricing really tainted our first experience. We would not recommend this place to...
Read moreI went for A.Y.C.E. hot pot here and there were 3 of us. Usually you each get a menu and choose what you like and there’s a 2 hour time limit. Some items cost extra and that’s okay. You order in 3 “rounds” this place made us share 1 menu, they purposely lagged bringing out all the food we ordered. It felt like they were trying to run out the time limit even on the first round. I thought the owners were trying to gaslight me. The 3 of us wanted 1 plate of lamb each on the first round. They brought out 1 plate of lamb total. This made the meal feel more like survival of the fittest (grab what you can while you can and if your neighbour misses out that’s okay he can get more in 45minutes when they bring out round 2) They continued to do this with all the items. It made for a horrible experience. Anyways when it came time to tip, I accidentally erased the total on the card machine and added a tip to the original price instead of entering the tip in the tipping section. The lady saw the card machine and got up in front of everyone and screamed “PLEEASE YOU HAVE TO TIP!! NOO 😭😕YOU MUSST TIP!! YOU NO TIP YOU LEAVE YOU NO COME BACK!!” Her husband got up out of his seat to investigate and they caused a whole scene in front of everyone and then proceeded to laugh it off when they saw the number on the screen… so I feel they were really chincey with the menu, really skimpy on bringing out the food, really shameless for begging for a tip I already gave (which I think since I put it in the wrong section that’s my fault). It’s okay if you need to make money on these meals. I’m okay with a reasonable price, I’m okay with some add ons being extra but if I’m taking out my friends and splurging a little I expect the place we go to be reasonable and not pull dirty tricks with the menu, lagging bringing out the food and don’t make us fight for our life when the 1 plate of meat comes out. And since this place is a A.Y.C.E. Hot Pot place, they have a lot of top notch competition in the Greater Vancouver Area. Check out the “Meat Up BBQ” it blew...
