Avenue G — Restaurant in Westmount

We were frequent visitors but this morning the service we experienced was unpleasant . We asked for two double espresso macchiato and instead got something that looked liked cheap Americano with milk and tasted horrible. My husband went back to kindly ask the barista if she could make espresso macchiato but she was extremely rude saying that she is the one who knows how to make coffee. The other girl jumped in, apologized and made us proper coffee while the barista continued to make rude comments saying she would not make new coffee nor refund money back. I did not have my phone with me to show what we got that barista called espresso macchiato but it was more about her attitude. As a side note, we would encourage you to offer consistent quality; lately, we never know what type of coffee we are getting and it makes us not willing to go back. Thank you and I hope this comment will help to encourage you and your baristas to strive for consistency and being polite...

Location: In Westmount on the corner of Greene and Sherbrooke. Street parking is available but metered. There's also a small (paying) lot next door. The up side is that meter rates are a lot more reasonable in Westmount than the rest of the island.

The place: Average-sized café with seating indoors and outdoors.

The goods: I had the Avenue G bagel sandwich without actually knowing what was in it - I was feeling adventurous this morning, I guess. It was great - egg, bacon and some spices mayo. I asked for no cheese. The portion was quite big, too! I also ordered a Mocha. It was good though not so mocha-y.

Service: Great - the person who took my order was really friendly. Pretty quick to receive my order as well.

Price point: A little steep at $15.

When I visit my parents in Montreal, I always love to have breakfast or lunch at Avenue G on Greene Avenue. Everything I have ordered has been incredibly delicious, from the savory croissant sandwiches (the ham and cheese w/ apple is my fave!) to the most amazing and pretty caffe lattes. The staff are super friendly and attentive, and always go the extra mile to ensure my son has the perfect hot chocolate, or warmed milk, that is not too hot to burn his mouth.
