Back in June 2022, my partner and I came here for our anniversary dinner. This restaurant was recommended by a friend and reading the overall positive reviews, we had expectations that it would be good food that is worth the cost. Sushi is one of our favorites to eat on special occasions so we have had our share of excellent sushi.

We ordered on of the combos (I forgot which one it was called) as well as a 12 piece Sashimi Plate. First dish was the salmon with julienned green apples and the salmon was fishy in taste; the apple was an interesting combo but overall pretty average. Second came the "Christmas trees" which I describe as a really salty and greasy chopped up fish mixture on a Good Thins Rice Cracker. At this point, we were not really impressed. Next came a nicely plated sashimi platter which we were really excited about because it is really hard to mess up good quality fish. Our first piece was this white fish with the skin on it (wasn't sure what fish it was) and I think because it was a thicker slice, it made the skin very chewy. But this was not the worst part; we proceeded with the other sashimis when I came across a bone as I was chewing. I was shocked to say the least because these bones are very hard and thick so I would have easily punctured my mouth. I immediately called the server over and showed her. She apologized and says she would bring it up to the chef. We proceeded to continue with the rest and my partner found ANOTHER bone. I called the server again and she apologized again. I wish this was the end of bones in our food but then we found our THIRD BONE. I was honestly embarrassed for them as this was an obvious display of their lack of attention to detail when preparing fish (my parents grew up running a sushi business so you always run your fingers across a fillet of fish to feel for bones. Even if you miss picking out a bone with the fish tweezers, you will feel the impact of the bone as your are slicing the fish). The server came back to notify us that the sashimi plate would be free of charge. We were just getting fed up at this point and then came the last plate which was an assortment of sushi rolls and they were mediocre; I mean the rolls had big pieces of lettuce and lots of cucumber as a filler ingredient. It just watered down the flavor of the fish.

Now we were able to see that this restaurant was popular as the room was quickly getting full throughout the evening. So I am happy that the business seems to be doing well and this food caters to a certain crowds' palate. I just don't what happened to our dining experience. Was it just a bad day and we got the bad apple of the lot?

I don't generally write a lot reviews on restaurants, especially negative ones. But I had to be transparent and share my experience.

Go try it out if you're curious, but I would not recommend this place. There are other small sushi businesses in Montreal that offer fresh sushi at a reasonable price, and best of...

The experience was unprofessional from start to finish. Yesterday, on Valentine’s Day at noon we placed an order on Saint Sushi’s website for pickup at 5:30pm, and followed by contacting the restaurant on their Instagram page to confirm the order, because if for whatever reason they cancelled our order right before the pickup time, we would be stuck without dinner at all. They went ahead and guaranteed our order would go through, and I quote “ your order will 100% be accepted”. At 4:45pm we receive an email saying our order was rejected, so I gave them a call. The man on the phone kept saying he was sorry but he has to cancel it, until I had to mention that I had drove almost an hour and a half to Montreal specifically for this pickup order, and that I had confirmed 5 hours before our pickup time with the restaurant. He suggested I come pick up the order at 7:15, which was not possible as there is a curfew in montreal and I wouldn’t make it back home on time. After going back and forth with the guy, he comes back and tells me that he was sorry and that I can pick up my order at 6:15 and because of the misunderstanding he will compliment our dinner with an extra roll of Bob Marley and a bottle of Sake. It was fair, so we waited the extra 45 minutes parked outside of the restaurant. Picked up the food to find out that they charged us 10% more because they cancelled our order online and remade the order in store and we lost the 10% discount that we used. Not only that, but we get home to find out that the “extra roll” he promised was not included in our order at all.

On another note, the sushi seemed rushed. The pieces of salmon has silver skin still on it, our order ended up costing us 115$ plus tip for something we could have gotten from a competitor at 50$. Not impressed what so ever (not with the service nor the quality). Wouldn’t recommend to waste your time, not sure why the great reviews but there is much better in Montreal, especially...

I’ve been going to saint sushi for many many years. The price has undoubtably increased however the food and taste has always remained constant. On this note they always have been the best.

However the service I had tonight was amongst the worst I’ve ever had. One friend of mine notified the waitress that she was lactose intolerant. She advised us she would change the sauces and alter the rolls.. however they gave her two rolls on a plate for the 40$ tasting menu. When we complained they said we’ll that’s how it is you accepted to have a separate plate. However if we would have known we would have just made the whole order lactose free so that everyone would get to taste a little bit of everything.

We called over another waiter to explain the story and he didn’t seem to be open to hearing what we had to say. We asked him if we were only going to get two rolls why couldn’t we choose the ones we wanted. He ended up giving us the Beatles roll for free saying “you happy now” rolling his eyes and walking away. For the rest of the night all the staff stared at us, we waited an hour for our bills and never got water again. On the level of service they deserve a big 0. Will never return again....

Very cute resto, part of a chain. Came here on a rainy Monday night, was surprisingly still half full. The people who work there are very nice and very chill. If you wanna socialize and see some of the action, the bar is where it's at. The decor and vibe is really cute. The sushi is delicious! They also give you what they call a funky sauce and a yogurt sauce, they are both delicious (you still have your soy don't worry). I had the tuna seinsei maki roll and the spicy salmon Maki roll, both delicious I wasn't sure what to make of the seinsei yogourt one when reading the menu, but it's light it's just the fish is mashed in with the yogurt, and the yogurt acts as a binder and just a little more creaminess to the sushi. It's really delicious, I am glad I tried that. They also do have some basics and simpler stuff but I'd say the menu is on the smaller side and more specialized.

we had an absolutely fantastic time being spoiled with incredible food in abundance. A creative approach, featuring a wide variety of unique and imaginative combinations—each dish is thoughtfully crafted. It's a refreshing change from typical spots. We particularly loved the playful names of the menu items, both for the sushi and drinks. It added an entertaining touch to our dining experience! Their patented "sapin" 🌲, which came with a delicious spicy yogurt, was definitely a highlight of the meal. As for the cocktails, they were all beautiful and delicious;  the "Mr. 305" was one of the best drinks I've ever had, perfect for my tastes. It felt like it was made just for me A fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy creative and flavorful sushi dishes in a welcoming atmosphere. We can't wait to return for more! 🍣🥂✨
