BReD is the best bakery in Whistler. Their sourdough bread is incredible, not to mention their other baked goods that use amazing local ingredients. Their coffee with coconut whip is insanely good.
The staff create a warm and welcoming environment with the main bakery always a hub of activity. Service is friendly and professional, but most of all, enthusiastic. The owners clearly treat all their employees well because everyone seems very happy to be there (I've seen from their instagram page they even do staff trips on quad bikes and things!!!). This also reflects on how positive I feel when I visit to buy bread and grab a very well made coffee.
Apart from baking the best bread in town, they make amazing goods that use premier ingredients from the local farms. This is super awesome and really shows in the quality of what you buy.
The bakery itself is a design-led, clean aesthetic with a focus on materials. It's a pleasure to sit in there and browse one of the books or magazines they also retail while I sip a coffee and enjoy one of their famous cinnamon buns.
Pandemic guidelines saw BReD take a different approach to their supply of the best bread in Whistler with the introduction on an easy to use online shop. The pick up system they implemented was, quite literally, a lifesaver. The online shop retails some awesome local products that I was able to cook with whilst stuck at home, and not have to put myself at risk by making a trip to the local supermarket.
You don't JUST buy some bread, or grab a coffee with these guys. Whilst their bread and baked goods are the best in town, they treat everyone brilliantly and they support other local businesses. You are buying into the amazing ethos and philosophy of being plant-based, zero-waste and making a positive contribution to the community. BReD sets the highest of standards in so many things.
Whether you're local or passing through. I'd recommend stopping by at any chance you get to grab a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOMG I LOVE Ed's BReD! Not only does this bakery have a gorgeous design with wood decor for shelving their beautiful delicious bread, but it also has an area to sit and drink your coffee/tea while enjoying your bread/snack. Everyone loves the smell of a bakery, am I right? Well the best part is they are fully organic and VEGAN! So you know you're smelling only the good stuff; cognizant that there's no animal products that are going to clog up your arteries (ewww nasty). So NO "cow's" milk here, try there delicious oat milk or any other nut type, they have a variety of milks for your coffee and tea. My favorite is the Indian spice chai, probably the best I've ever had, so authentic! And their Fig & Walnut loaf on Saturdays only. Way to go guys, for leading the way, we need more entrepreneurs like you in the Whistler and the world. Congratulations on a great location in Creekside, where you can pick up your "Bred to Shred" and take the gondola up Whistler Mountain while munching on your baked goodies. To top it off, they are ZERO WASTE, where no loaves get thrown out or wasted. Therefore, to get around this they do special order for holidays like Father's Day buns and Easter cross buns, etc, they also have pizza dough. The only thing I would recommend is more cinnamon in between the layers of their cinnamon buns, I like that pasty cinnamon layering where all you can taste is cinnamon!!! Smother it in there! Decent prices for the value and quality of what you get, when comparing around Whistler. Lastly, the owners, a young couple originally from the UK are lovely people and very accommodating. After talking with them for a few minutes, you can tell they have so much passion for bread, ancient grains, the Whistler life, snowboarding, care for the environment and animals. Very friendly staff/baristas. Thanks for opening up a delicious organic sourdough bakery in Whistler, now let's see some plant-based croissants, to give Tim Hortons some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOh hi there, Do you want to have completely perfect bread? In every way? Do you know what it's like to have an experience with bread. I didn't - I thought I did. I have a sandwich making gameshow. I've tried a lot of bread. But this... I would call this the Rols Royce of Bread or the Tesla of bread or whatever you perceive as the best thing on earth. There was a total in depth experience that was both textural and a wild multilayered cataclysm of flavor. Try this bread. Legit. I never write reviews and felt compelled so you should take this as a sign and go. You will have some of the best bread you will ever eat in your life here. I'm saying this as someone who loves bread but isn't a sourdough head. I like it fine, but I have other faves that I typically opt for first. Ever since I tried this bread (I got the country and the SEEDED!!!!) a couple weeks ago - I have not stopped buying it. Today, I also tried a tomato tart that was nutso delicious. I added a pic of the sandwich that I made for my mom with the first loaf. It has scallion cream cheese, avocado, black forest ham, garlic lemon aoli, Kalamata olive tapenade with little bits of bread and butter beets. Oh and also, it lasts long if you put it in a nut milk bag or cloth and keep it in the paper bag. It's bomb toasted also. Dang, I think I'm in love with this bread... I don't want to stop talking about it. ONE LAST THING: One of the things that makes it so great is how spongy and soft it is. So it makes a perfect sandwich even un-toasted. I rarely have un-toasted sandwiches. I will say it is delicious when you toast one side and use that as the inside of the sando. So it's soft on your mouth but keeps the structural integrity of the sandwich. Ok. I'm done....
