The food was really spectacular here. I sat at the bar with friends, and we had a great meal and great conversation with the server, all while getting to watch the chefs cook! The interior was cozy and I liked the vibe quite a bit. The only issue for me was the hostess, who seemed too stressed or was maybe just rude? I'm not from Canada, and she sounded French so maybe there was just some stuff that was lost in translation/cultural differences. When we came in, there weren't seats available, and we asked if we could wait inside and she said no so directly we thought she was kidding - she said we had to wait outside (it was around -20C at that time). Obviously we didn't want to wait outside. We saw open seats at the bar and asked if we could sit there instead, and she said yes, but then she repeated around 4 times that we couldn't move if we sat at the bar. Not being able to move from the bar was completely fine, it was just weird how she was telling us, as if she thought we would just reseat ourselves. Anyway, it wasn't a huge deal, it was just a bit off-putting. The rest of the experience more than made up for the intro. Would definitely go again.

While fuelling up our bikes in Squamish, a few fellow riders recommended Southside Diner at Whistler Creek and we’re so glad we listened! On our way to Lillooet, we made a quick stop here and it turned out to be the perfect spot. We were greeted by a super friendly lady who took great care of us, and the breakfast was excellent, hearty portions, tasty, and well priced. The menu has plenty of choices, making it a great stop for breakfast or brunch. The country style interior gives it a cozy, down to earth feel, and there’s also a patio outside if you want to enjoy your meal with fresh air and mountain vibes. Tons of parking space right in front, which is perfect for riders like us. This will definitely become one of our regular stops when we’re riding through the area. If you're in or passing through Whistler Creek, I’d highly recommend stopping by for a bite!

Unfortunately my review for this diner will not be pleasant. I want to start off by saying that I have visited this diner twice before today's visit. The first two visits left me fondly remembering it. Because of this, I recommended that my friends, son and I head to Southside Diner to enjoy brunch. As we made our way to the diner, I couldn't speak any higher about my two previous experiences there. As we entered to put a name down in their sign in chart, the initial greeting wasn't too friendly but we were able to set that aside. The wait wasn't long for a table, thankfully. Fast forward, our meals were delivered. My son ordered a burger and salad. He was about to take a bite of his salad when he noticed a long strand of hair within the lettuce. Now, that right there can turn even the strongest stomach off. The thing about this incident that also was upsetting is that the waitress after being told that a strand of hair was in the salad, just quickly took the plate and all she said was...Here, I'll take it. No apologies, no offer of compensation. As I watched her hand the plate to the cook, I saw him remove the hair with his hand, toss it and not wash his hands afterwards. Our original waitress walked over and I had to ask her what kind of compensation we would get for this. She looked surprised by the question and said she would have to ask her manager. We ended up getting the replacement burger plate free of charge, of course, but not until asking. Still no sorry or anything from staff about the situation. All of our stomachs were turned at this point and we had a difficult time finishing our food. Unfortunately, this experience left a very bad taste in our mouth and memory. We...

Unfortunately myself and my girlfriends first experience here wasn't a good one. It was our last day in Whistler and we were going to grab breakfast before heading back down to the Lower Mainland.

We thought this would be a good place to go because of the high reviews. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive, and the decor was great as well. It does a really good job of making you feel cozy and relaxed.

Where are experience fell short was the food. I ordered the BBQ melt and upon getting it and flipping over the bun it was immediately apparent it was covered in spots of mold. I politely pointed it out to our waitress to which she apologized (wasn't her fault anyway) and took it back to the kitchen. I found this pretty surprising as it was very obvious and if they (the cooks) were inspecting their food at all before it left the kitchen it would be very easy to see. What was really shocking was after getting my replacement meal, I flipped over the bun and it was covered in mold spots...again. How on earth could the cooks hear what was wrong with it, cook another meal, and not even inspect it for why it was sent back before sending out another meal with the exact same issue?

I pointed it out again and asked for something different from the menu and instead our waitress suggested just getting it on a different bun which I did. The most disappointing part was we were charged for the meal which we had to send back twice for mold. Pretty much any other restaurant I go to would immediately drop something like that from the bill.

In short, great waitress/staff, nice homey feel, just a really poor experience...

Made a visit late Sept 2019 as a group of 4 around noon. The wait was 50mins (we were ok waiting as we were starving). As we stood waiting (in the way of servers as it's extremely small) we observed the rough-around the edges mannerism of one of the servers. Though there were 10 others waiting for tables huddled in the same area, she told My group "maybe you guys can just stand outside?" (It was a downpour outside! That comment felt a bit hurtful) Finally we got a table of 4, ordered our food and waited some more. One of our group members had an avacado that he had brought from home as means to hold himself over til the meal arrived. The server made a bit of a scene, she spoke loud and was rambling along the lines of "the avacado is your friend...why would you bring your own avacado? It's like me going to a movie theatre"... (Long uncomfortable monologue finally ended) and we felt humiliated to say the least. We did not finish our food, as we lost our appetite, we paid in full plus gave her a very good tip. We hope the restaurant learns to interact with clients with respect. We hope you read this and learn the art of conversation, and drop the humiliation. There is no need to be a bully. We will not be returning, nor would we recommend this place to our friends or family. We hope people wishing to dine here are aware of the small space, extremely long wait, and unprofessional interaction. Go into it with the expectation that it's just...
