Creekside might not offer as many dining options as Whistler Village, but Mekong is a standout that’s absolutely worth the trip. Specializing in Thai cuisine, this restaurant serves dishes that are nothing short of a symphony for your taste buds.

Our first visit to Mekong last year left such a lasting impression that we made it a priority to return this year—and it did not disappoint. We began our meal with the roti and curry sauce, a delectable starter so irresistible that my daughter couldn’t get enough and wished for thirds. The crispy sea bass appetizer stole the spotlight for me; paired with an aromatic salad, it delivered a vibrant burst of flavors with every bite.

We continued with the chicken wings, which were perfectly seasoned and paired with a flavorful dipping sauce. A stir-fried vegetable medley brought variety and freshness to our table, offering a delicious harmony of textures. For our main course, we shared the green curry halibut. While I personally found it a bit bland and dry, my husband enjoyed it, highlighting the subjective nature of taste. By the end of the meal, we were too full to even consider dessert.

Though the prices at Mekong lean towards the higher side, the creative twists on authentic Thai flavors make it a worthwhile splurge. Our reservation at 6:15 PM meant the restaurant wasn’t too busy, and our attentive server ensured a pleasant experience. However, I was slightly disappointed by the 1.5-hour time limit set for our party of three. While we finished comfortably within that time due to the swift service, the restriction did add a layer of stress to our otherwise delightful evening.

In summary, if you’re seeking an elevated Thai dining experience, Mekong is a must-visit gem in Creekside. Just be prepared for the time constraint if dining...

1st time eating at Mekong. For reference I've been married to a Thai lady for 22 years.

The restaurant is gorgeous and the service was excellent. Although there was a very, very drunk guy(couple) that seemed affiliated with the restaurant or a very regular walking all around the restaurant. I would probably not allow that to happen if I owned the place. Just a bad look. He clearly knew everyone on staff so I think a bit of reigning him in by whoever was in charge should have been appropriate. Like I said, just a really bad look.

Food... I did the Price Fixe Menu

Tom Yum Chicken wings.....extremely salty but with the sauce it did taste like "Thailand" I got what they were trying to do although weren't my favorite.

Grilled Shrimp Lettuce Wraps......were fantastic. I could have eaten 10 more and if on the regular menu, I highly suggest ordering them

Chicken Cashew Nut......I do hate to give a review this bad but it was just awful. No other way to decribe it. It really was like mall chinese sweet and sour. Fried chicken doused in way too sweet sauce.

Crispy Lager Beer.....normally wouldn't rate a beer. I was disappointed they were out of Thai beer(not good for a Thai restaurant) I really don't want to drink a craft beer with Thai food. So I ordered the Crispy Lager and I have to say it was excellent!

I may give it a 2nd chance because the restaurant is beautiful and the service really was very good. And try some other dishes on the main menu but that Cashew Chicken really wasn't good, by...

This was by far the worst dining experience I’ve ever had in Whistler! Although the food was good, the service was absolutely terrible! The server not only delivered the wrong dish but also blamed us for the mistake without verifying first. They even tried to force us to accept the wrong order. Only after we insisted did the server check their order list and confirm that it was indeed their mistake.

When it came to billing, the same server made errors on two separate bills: one included an extra bowl of rice, and the other had an extra drink charged. The server promised to correct these mistakes, but the amounts remained wrong at checkout. After pointing it out again, the server took the receipts and assured us it would be fixed. However, when they returned, there were no receipts provided, and they simply placed the card machine in front of me as if everything had been resolved.

After completing the payment, I received a bank notification and realized the amount was still incorrect—I had still been overcharged for the drink. The initial handling of this issue by the staff was unprofessional and lacked any sense of urgency. Later, the manager promised a system refund that would be processed within ten days. Yet, even after 17 days, I still hadn’t received the refund.

Throughout this period, I had to take the initiative to follow up multiple times, which was incredibly frustrating. The entire experience left such a bad impression on me. I will never dine at this...

Mekong is a hidden gem in Creekside Village. Relatively new on the Whistler dining scene, it's a unique option you should definitely check out when visiting Whistler. Walking distance from any of the Creekside accommodation options and just a short drive from Whistler Village with lots of free parking available. Also easily accessible by bus from anywhere in Whistler if you don't have a car or prefer not to drive. And, if you are on the mountain, you can ski down to the Creekside base and take the short stroll down to the restaurant for lunch or après. We have dined here before. However, we had not tried many of the dishes on their new winter menu, so we asked for recommendations, which were happily provided. We were very pleased with all the dishes we ordered, sharing several starters, a main dish, and a dessert. Our favourites were the scallop crudo and crispy sea bass as well as the green curry pacific halibut. And, the coconut panna cotta was a delightful, refreshing, light finish to our meal. If you're looking to get out of Whistler Village for a deliciously different dinner in an approachably upscale yet casual, intimate location, then check out Mekong!
