Ok....this is the review you're gonna want to listen to and trust.
This place is special, in that you need to know what you're doing. If you order correctly....you will be taken to culinary heaven. If you order wrong....you're going to end up like every other 1 star review on this list. I recently tried this place for the first time this week and it changed my life, can't have pita wraps anywhere else anymore. The flavor, texture, balance, ABUNDANCE, VALUE...it's all there. I took a bite and fell back into my car seat...that's how taken a back I was to how perfect this creation was.
Now here's the key....only order items that get freshly cut on the meat slicer. This place is called pita deli, not pita shawarma. So having said that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Montreal smoked meat....made in house....it is perfection. If you're dumb enough to order chicken shawarma without seeing a spit roaster in the background, then that's on you....grab your crayon set and write a formal complaint. Their chicken shawarma is more of a heated chicken salad...it's not for me...but if you're watching your fat intake and you don't mind reheated shredded chicken....live your best life, I don't care. But don't order anything that says shawarma and get disappointed after. Only get the freshly sliced stuff with the fattoush....you'll thank yourself.
Finally....the jacked bald dude with the tattoos behind the counter slinging wraps like a finely tuned swiss watch....you are a hero sir. I tip...
Read moreI'm honestly not sure why this place is rated so highly. I decided to try it out on a friend’s recommendation—they said it was the best pita place in Oshawa—but I didn’t enjoy my experience at all.
I ordered the Chicken Salad Pita, and the first thing I noticed was how wet it was. I walked back to Durham College’s main building, and during that short trip, the pita had leaked through both layers of wrapping paper and even started to soak through the bag. When I finally ate it, it felt slimy and unpleasant. I also saw the staff reheating meat in a microwave, which struck me as unprofessional—especially since when I asked about cleanliness, the staff member I spoke to seemed uncomfortable and didn’t answer. There was also someone at the register who was shouting, even though the place was already quite busy and noisy. I specifically asked for no peppers or chickpeas in my wrap, and yet both ended up in it. That made me feel like customer preferences aren’t taken seriously.
For a place that claims to have the "Best Pitas in Durham Region," I felt the quality didn’t live up to the hype. Personally, I’d recommend heading a bit further to Pita Pit instead—it’s been a much better...
Read moreI have been going to this place for close to 15 years and never had a problem. Tonight was different. I hadn't been in about a year and was craving chicken & garlic and so was my girlfriend. She also loves them now thanks to me. Both of our wraps weren't wrapped right, to me it was clear that the girl making/wrapping our wraps didn't know how to wrap them properly, the way the owner and his son does (see photo) it sucks that depending on who makes your food will determine its quality. It was very dry because she didn't add much sauce I guess and there wasn't much fattoush and a lot smaller and lighter than normal! They used to be like a little baby! We would always joke about how big and heavy they were. I hate that I have to write this review but I feel they would want to know. I don't want this place to go downhill because I loved them! I got it for us on my way home from work and was so excited about it. I was so sad that it was not the wrap that I had been eating for so long 😪 I hope the owners see this and address it! I definitely will be back, but I don't...
